Has anyone ever heard of or tried these? I'd go barefoot everywhere if I could, and have been thinking about giving these a try.

Any opinions welcome

Back in the day, I used to barefoot water ski, sometimes with flimsey Chuck Taylor shoes.

Those would have been perfect..... until ya catch a toe.

Oh Nooooooooo!!!!!!:D[:/]

OK, dumb question. How were you doing barefoot skiing while wearing shoes?:P
All the barefooters I knew were really barefoot. I tried it numerous times, and gave up after damn near breaking my back in the crashes.

I considered myself a very good recreational slalom waterskier back in the day. Then I tried barefoot skiing. The mastercraft boat had a boom that extended out the side. Going 30 or 35 mph I tried to ease my feet down, as if on cue, the instant my feet made contact, KERSPLA-SPLA-SPLA-SPLA-SPLASH!!!

Fuck that. Haven't tried it since. B|:D

Dude, i was God. I could walk on water all day. With or without shoes when was 12-14.

Two ski jump out... A real crowd pleaser. Takes big ones to jump out of your skis at 42 mph.:D

Flying dock starts = just plain brutal but handy and cool.

Ha that was something i thought i would never quit doing. Still makes me crave it when i see a total glass lake in the morning.:)

Yes the guys I skied with who could do it always said it wasn't that difficult; It's just that you were going so damn fast that every fall was spectacular. We didn't have the side boom, so I had to try to drop the ski. Dropping the ski wasn't that bad, but everything that happened in the split second afterward was.:S

I have exactly one day of barefoot attempts under my belt. My wrecks were so spectacular that despite no *serious* injuries, I wasn't relieved of all the bruises, aches, and pains till several weeks later. The look of determined terror on my face every time I was actually up for a second or two stands out in every picture (all of which have since been destroyed). :D

yep. and roll.........................[:/]:D

Yes, that was one of the problems;
These attempts were around the same time I started jumping;
Now think about it: What do they drill into you about recovering from loss of control?
Yes, go into a big, flat, stable arch.
That doesn't work so well when wiping out water skiing.:S
But it certainly provides a stimulus for hysterical laughter for the passengers in the boat.>:(

Barefoot Ted is a an ultrarunner who swears by the Vibram FF's. He also tests their new products for them. They definitely allow you to build up strength in your feet by using muscles that we don't usually use because we are accustomed to shoes. They look cool and I'd like to get some sometime in the near future to build foot strength for my upcoming ultrarunning adventures. Let me know how they work out.
