What is the strangest thing you've eaten?

Recommended Posts

I knew it was something strange back then (2003) as some of the locals around our table protested when he ordered it for me, but as it tasted OK I never gave it much though.

Reading it now makes it seems like Haggis :o

I'm not realy into innards, but a SA speciality is "Skilpaadjies" (Little Turtles ) - slices of sheep liver wrapped in kideny fat & cooked on a BBQ. Not to my taste, but some people love'em! :o

A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!

I've had pig and cow brain back at home regularly(obviously wasn't worried about CJD back then) breaded and deep fried, prepared by mom. Tripe, (didn't care for it much, reminded me of a shredded towel) also prepared by mom, something called "pig cheese", meat and offal cooked, chopped, seasoned liberally with paprika, garlic, salt, pepper then stuffed into a clean pig stomach, pressed flat for a few days then smoked. I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can recall at the moment.
I suppose I could eat rusty nails back then...:o There is no way in hell I would even look at these things now.:S

My mother filmed me, when I was small, sitting in the plowed field before we planted the garden. I scooped up the dirt, picked out all the sticks and rocks and ate the muddy dirt. It' looked like I was enjoying it. B| Apparently I did this all the time. They got a big kick out of it.

I try to try any food once provided it doesn't contain pinapple.

The strangest thing to my Western mouth though, was donkey. It was surprisingly tender, and didn't taste quite like anything I've ever eaten before.

And did you like it?

I am in Jordan and in many of the restaurants, lamb's brain is on the menu, so I thought I'd try it. It came either fried or sauteed with garlic and butter. Since everything tastes good with garlic and butter, that's what I had. The garlic was overpowering - hard to tell what it actually tasted like. It wasn't bad, but I need to try it fried now.

I have been to 28 countries and first thing i always do is sample the Local food. Most of the time i dont want to know what it is, i just eat it and then decide. Lets see, various brains, testicles, Penis actually aint to bad, ox eyes, Haggas, crocodile, monkey, Ginea pig, yes just like the one you had as a pet. Blood susage, blood soup, Others i dont remeber right now but i have to say if the company is good and there is a nice Cab, it usually isnt to bad

After serving as a USAF Survival Instructor for 8 years... you really do not want to know....suffice it to say that rice and certain insect larvae that closely resemble rice in size and looks....go together quite well. That was about as close as I ever came to having any kind of food aversion.

Was offered balut before.... I declined.

Are you serious? I used to eat it all the time when I was a kid...the crunch of the baby bird's tiny little bones. Yummy!! :P

"Eat the Beak!" :D

I spent some time TDY at Clark AFB in the Philipines - ate a fair bit of the local food, but drew the line at that...
