nerdgirl 0 #4 May 13, 2008 Thanks! I thought that was fabulous! (And in an area of Spain to which I haven't been yet ... yeah!) Reminds me of when I was ice-climbing regularly - (most) ice-climbers thought skydiving was 'crazy' & a good portion of the skydivers thought ice-climbing was 'crazy'. /Marg Act as if everything you do matters, while laughing at yourself for thinking anything you do matters. ryoder 1,590 #9 May 13, 2008 I can't imagine the difficulty in building that walk. Who/when/why was it built?"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
iluvtofly 0 #10 May 13, 2008 I wonder if he was even using the safety cable because he never slowed down in the areas where it was bolted to the rock meaning he would have to stop and disconnect the safety cable from one side of the bolt and move it to the other side. yamtx73 0 #11 May 13, 2008 QuoteI can't imagine the difficulty in building that walk. Who/when/why was it built? From what I've been able to find on it... construction finished in 1905 and hasn't been maintained in many years. Both entrances are actually closed off... it was built for workers to travel between the Chorro and Gaitanejo Falls. The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers... BillyVance 34 #18 May 13, 2008 Quote If you gonna be brave you better be stupid Uh... I think it's the other way around. Edited to add: Corrected, it should be "If you're gonna be stupid, you better be tough!" However, in that situation, it would be amended to "If you're gonna be stupid, you better have all your affairs in order." Sletzer 3 #21 May 13, 2008 I agree, it definately didn't look like he was clipped in. I would do this hike in a heartbeat, but I must admit, I'd probably clip in on the "balance beam" parts. And any really sketchy areas. As far as the rest of the trail, I wouldn't clip in either. Hey, anyone want to go to spain? edited to add: Wiki says they set aside funds in 2006 to revamp the whole thing. Anyone know if they're started work yet? I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251

Sletzer 3 #24 May 13, 2008 Quote If you had to choose between doing that hike or running with the bulls in Pamplona, which would you do? Hmmm, fall to death or gored to death? That's a toughy. My brother is stationed in the Azores where they have a toned down running of the bulls. Guys hold the bulls on long ropes or something like that. That way the rope can trip you and then you get trampled/gored. Planning on doing it next year More bragging rights if you run with the bulls, but as far as personal satisfaction, I'd have to say the trail. Ah, f*ck it. If I go to Spain during the right season I'd do both. Any if I'm still alive and my ass doesn't have any extra holes from a bull horn, I'd even go skydiving. I hear they have a huge DZ called empo or something. So who's with me? I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon.
