Buying a Used Rig - always use a Rigger?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to get a rig on here that looks great, is from another DZ.com member, and there were a dozen prics privided. Its not much, so I was thinking of picking it up for a second rig. Have you always used your rigger to check it out and broker the deal? I did my first this way and it was no issue, but I am currious how trustworthy we all are of each other...

The only way I would not use my local rigger would be if the reserve was recently repacked by a rigger that you trust.
By "recently" I mean within the last month. Any longer than that and you risk expensive damage caused by a bad landing.
Find out the name of the last rigger who repacked it, then ask local riggers if they trust the guy/girl.
