BillyVance 34 #26 April 25, 2008 Quote Quote I've always packed for myself, with the only exceptions being when I was a big way organizer who needed to spend time in the video room reviewing the jump video while the rest of the jumpers packed up. Was this back when you used to jump? Pretty much. But hey, it's only a temporary slow down. When the brat gets older, I'll get more opportunities to jump. tigra 0 #28 April 25, 2008 QuoteQuoteso I set the breaks and cocked the pilot chute QuoteLooked some more and one of the breaks wasn't set. Hmmmmm again....looked some more and the pilot chute wasn't cocked!! Umm...so he decided to unstow a brake and uncock your pilot chute? And how did you open the main? Did you perhaps pull the hackey on the pilot chute? You do realize that could've uncocked the pilot chute... QuoteHmmmmm slider is about 4" from the stops, that probably would have hurt The slider could've moved when you took the canopy out, doesn't mean he packed it that way. You pay your money, you take your chances. If you don't like his packing style, don't use him anymore. Simple really.... I've got to agree with you on all of this. iluvtofly 0 #29 April 25, 2008 If you're not going to take the time to learn yourself don't complain. Your packer is only human...humans are not perfect, they make mistakes. I know as a packer I don't need some asshole comming up to me yelling at me about his occasional bad opening. If you're going to complain about someone screwing up your pack job do it yourself. Otherwise shut up.

Sebazz1 2 #31 April 25, 2008 I think packing is a waste of time or even learning to pack for that matter. One could be drinking a beer while some else packs for them, then the bad opening wont hurt so bad cause you'll be buzzzed. I am sofaking kidding, I think... squarecanopy 0 #35 April 25, 2008 QuoteI dont prefer to pack. We have 2 very good packers at my dz, i wont let someone i dont know well pack for me. While i do know how to pack, i prefer jumping while im at the dz, plus packing is tiring. I would much rather set down the gear in the packing room and run outside and smoke a cig and chat with other jumpers. I have had a few weird openings, but in all honesty i cant wait for my first cutaway. Now if i was able to get out there more often and jump more, i would probably pack for myself but when you can only squeeze in 3 or 4 jumps a week, id prefer to spend my time in the air, and hanging out. Not packing. I thought you were kidding until I read your whole post. You are shorting yourself. Packing for yourself, thus learning your equipment sooner will help you move from "casual visitor to this sport" to "skydiver" much quicker. Learning your equipment will likely be a necessary component of your knowledge to save yourself some day when your much anticipated cutaway happens and things don't go well. When that goes down you need to know more than the average lazy let somebody else do it all for me newbie to keep from going SPLAT against Mother Earth. Just burning a hole in the sky..... cocheese 0 #36 April 25, 2008 Packing sucks. I support anyone who will pack for me. I have the record for the most paid pack jobs. About 85% of mine are packed by those fine people. It creates jobs and allows me to have a mini vacation at the dz. I'm happier when i don't have to pack. I jump more. I know a lot of people with a lot of jumps who will seek out a packer for the day. Give the kid a break. Bitch at my fat lazy ass instead.

I packed enough to get to hate it. Now I don't pack at all, my knee's can't take it. My wife has R.A. in her hands, so she doesn't pack either. We OVER pay our packers & even feed the damn good cookies midday to give them a needed break. If, by chance we have a funky opening, we tell them what it did so they know about it & we talk about it. Bottom line.. People DON'T pack for different reasons. The packers are there to make money.I am NOT being loud. I'm being enthusiastic!
skydemon2 0 #40 April 26, 2008 Lazy biotches....... Every 4-5 pack jobs is another jump you could have paid for!!! Even though I would have no problem paying a packer, I just cant do it. It only takes 10-15 minutes to do it and its not hard.Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone! I like to start my day off with a little Ray of Soulshine™!!
