ACMESkydiver 0 #1 April 20, 2008 Friday -NO WORKOUT! Yes I took the day off. I was at a BodyBuilding competition all day (yeah I was competing, I took 3rd pl- ok, bullshit I was just a vendor ). Then we headed to the track and I had 1 double rum and coke, and 2 beers. And I was lit. I have such a low tolerance I'm a cheap date any more. Thursday I did a 1 hour step and lift class...then some treadmill time. Yesterday (Saturday), I did my lower body workout, then 35 minutes on the treadmill. Good workout, but I found that at the end I wasn't nearly as sore as I had been the 2 previous times. And it's taking a BUNCH more to get my heart rate up than it used to, so my cardio level is increasing. Hooray! -and this morning, I'm not sore at all! <--Ok is that a good thing or does it mean I need to add some stuff to my workout? Anyhoo, I'll be heading in again today for upper body workout and some cardio. Weight is still exactly the same as it has been for I'd guess 2 weeks...I'm not doing as well on my eating, but still not bad. I have noticed that I'm getting tighter and looking better, so that's a happy thing. How are all y'all doing? ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Broke 0 #2 April 20, 2008 Basically I have been hitting the elliptical for my fifteen minute break durring the afternoon. I wish I could go longer, but I have to do it on my own time rightly so. I have however found places where I can do dips, and pull ups. I need to stop using the escuse of it being cold in the mornings to not run in the morning.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. tigra 0 #4 April 21, 2008 I went to the gym on Saturday- did a little cardio and some strength training, then an awesome hour long class that combined all my favorites- Latin Cardio, HipHop and Capoeira. I'm going to do cardio and legs tonight, then upper body with my trainer tomorrow.

I did upper body today...the stupid 10 minute routine the trainer gave me (ok it wasn't stupid when he gave it to me, but I did three times as much today and was still bored! ) and then 10 min on elliptical, then 10 min on treadmill (due to time constraints). Tomorrow is 1 hour total body fitness class with my friend, then I'll also do my lower body routine and some more cardio after. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #6 April 22, 2008 Upper body PLUS some boxing with my trainer tonight. We haven't boxed in a while so I put in a special request. I did cardio, legs and abs last night on my own. Tomorrow is a special one hour Hip Hop cardio dance class guaranteed to burn a whole bunch of calories! Yes, I'll look pretty stupid doing it, but its still a ton of fun! McBeth 0 #8 April 22, 2008 Well last week I did step and abs 2 days and yoga one day, plus a 2 hour walk this weekend around DC. Yesterday I did step and abs, today at lunch I did legs. My step class tomorrow was cancelled so I found another one to go to today. Planning on doing a core and abs class tomorrow at lunch. Then hopefully yoga again on Thursday and upper body on Friday. We'll see if I can stick to all that!
tigra 0 #9 April 23, 2008 I boxed with my trainer last night. Awesome- I need to work this in to our sessions a little more often. I did 25 minutes on the elliptical first and in addition to the boxing (great cardio too BTW) we also worked abs, back and shoulders. GREAT workout and a lot of fun too! Tonight, there's an hour long Hip Hop cardio dance class and I'll probably do some legs/ lower body first.

Yesterday I did My 1hour step and lift class with my friend, then I did some treadmill...then I came back later that night for Sprouty's wrestling and did my entire lower body workout that was given to me by my trainer. Good stuff! (Then I took the Sprout to ice cream and got a single scoop cone myself...what can I say, she got creamed at wrestling and we decided that we hadn't had an 'ice cream' time in a long while...)~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. I guess it will actually be BETTER to mix things up and NOT have a routine later on when I melt some of this extra poundage...you're prolly already at that point! tigra 0 #13 April 23, 2008 The Hip Hop class is later tonight, so I'll let you know. Its not a regular class there (yet) but she taught one last month that was just a TON of fun and a great cardio workout as well!

Tonight, there's an hour long Hip Hop cardio dance class and I'll probably do some legs/ lower body first. Boxing might be something I'd try in a few months! My dad-in-law says it's great for your abs if you do it right, too... For some reason I can't do the elliptical any more! It's stupid...I get to about 4 minutes and I can't do it any more. Two things I think: first, I ran out of glucosamine about 2 weeks ago. It's on backorder, and I was taking massive doses of that stuff to lubricate these dumb ol' joints (I guess all the dumb stuff I did in my teens and in the army finally caught up to me! ). My knees can't handle the elliptical right now... And second, my lower body workouts have been pretty amped up. Grueling by my lil' house-mommy standards. My quads will not accept that much weight over and over on them after my lower body workout or even my upper body workout (as my quads are still recovering from the day before! ) Today I did my upper body workout...plus an additional chest/shoulder routine that I pulled outta my book because my dumb ol' 8 minutes arms routine sucks. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill (tried the elliptical and realized that wasn't gonna work about 45 seconds into it! ) I still have to do some push ups here and sit ups...and I just got home and haven't showered yet (I know; 'Ewwww!' ) so I think I might just go ahead and do the whole bi/tri routine in my book as well before I shower and change. Problem is the babies coming home from school is gonna throw a wrench in the works...but I'll figure it out. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #15 April 23, 2008 The boxing was great- good interval training, good cardio, good upper body, good for the legs, good for the core and good for hand to eye coordination. I'm not sure I'd like to box for real with someone who hits back and wants to hurt me, but the sparring and punching was fun. Not all elliptical machines are the same and they do take getting used to. I remember trying to use one when I was rehabbing my last broken ankle and the pain would stop me before I got tired or winded. I had to work my way up to that starting with just walking on the treadmill. And, even with that, not all the machines are the same. Some are tougher on the knees and joints than others. At my gym, we've got Life Fitness and Precor ellipticals. I always go for the Life Fitness machines and will only get on the Precor if nothing else is available or if I want to use a really steep setting to blast my gluts for about 10 minutes. Right now I am mainly using the ellipticals as a warm up and to build up my endurance, so I tend to use the basic cardio setting, not the hills and stuff. I figure I am getting enough strength training with the weights.
wmw999 2,544 #16 April 23, 2008 By tommorrow morning I'll have had 2 days at the gym, 2 days of running/walking (not that far -- 1-2 miles), and I skipped the stretching I usually do on Mondays because I was on a plane heading from Indianapolis to Houston. I need to stay motivated. I find that if I'm tired in the morning, I really don't want to work out, but I feel better all day if I do. So maybe if I post it it'll help. My goal is to continue to feel younger than I am. I do most of the time now, and would like to stay that way. NWFlyer 2 #17 April 24, 2008 Let's see if I can remember ... uhhh ... Friday I'm not sure I did anything. Saturday I went to the gym and did a long cardio session. Monday short cardio plus resistance. Yesterday didn't do anything. Today even though I'm starting to feel sick and crappy (probably caught the cold that my friend's baby has ... little 5-month old germ factory!!!!) I did drag myself in and managed to do a 25-minute cardio session before I said "feh, enough.""There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. ACMESkydiver 0 #18 April 24, 2008 QuoteNot all elliptical machines are the same and they do take getting used to. I guess that's true...I remember the ones at my old gym seemed easier some how. then again, they also felt like they were 'running me'. It was like I was keeping up with the machine spinning the steps; these I know that I'm powering the steps myself.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #21 April 24, 2008 Hip Hop cardio was fun. I burned a whole bunch of calories and looked like a moron doing it! I'm more of a rock and roll girl- I've never been into Hip Hop, not the music or the dancing but the class was a riot, just like last time. And I do find dance music in general more appealing now that I am working out regularly. The SO just rolls his eyes when I start blasting the reggaeton! tigra 0 #23 April 25, 2008 I think the dance oriented classes are a little more fun than just "step" or some of the other group exercise classes they offer at my gym. Or maybe its just the instructor- I don't know. I just know I am more likely to stick with something and give it 100% if I am having a good time doing it. Last night was Boneco Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts modified for Ballys.) Its a great class- good music, good cardio and lots of lower body work. I can't make that class every week and it seems like most of the time when I do, my legs are still sore and stiff from my Tuesday night session with my trainer. Since we boxed and worked upper body on Tuesday, my legs were relatively "fresh" last night. It made a difference! My goal for the weekend is the squeeze in one good workout- cardio and full body strength training. But we might also venture out to the dz and that might interfere! I wish our gym had something like that Copoeira! Sounds great. Unfortunately I totally get the sore legs deal. Yesterday I went to the gym, did just 6 minutes on the treadmill to warm up enough to stretch out my legs, and found that my hamstrings were still so tight that I couldn't even stretch. Looked ridiculous. I couldn't get in any lower body due to that pain. I spent about 15 minutes in the sauna trying to stretch out, and that did help a bit. I'll go back in and do my lower body today.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
tigra 0 #25 April 25, 2008 My young trainer pushes me HARD, especially when we work legs and they are sore and tight for about 2 days afterwards. He's not hurting me, and I talked to him about doing the classes on the days following our workouts (ie not really properly "resting" the muscles) but he agrees with me that getting the blood flowing is a good thing even if my range of motion is a bit limited! Plus, the classes work the muscles a little bit differently than the weight training. BUT- if I was too sore for the treadmill, the classes would be a BAD idea!
