eeneR 3 #2 April 24, 2008 Only other option is the old stand by tape adapter if you have a tape deck. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
tigra 0 #3 April 24, 2008 Yup- neither is a perfect solution. My car is almost 10 years old and I'm not about to buy a new stereo for it. My cassette player died, and I've got problems/ issues with the FM transmitter thing too. Its very sad not to be able to listen to my iPod during my long drive to and from work! Amazing how spoiled a person can get! If you go with the FM transmitter route, you can go to Belkin's website and there is a place for you to type in your zip code to get the best station to use. COOL! thanks for the Belkin advice, I have a Belkin transmitter and I get so frustrated with that damn thing!!!!! I was tickled pink when I got the iPod for my bday, not something I would have bought for myself, but OMG..I love it so much!
Thanatos340 1 #5 April 24, 2008 Also make sure to get a FULL spectrum FM Transmitter. Many cheaper FM Transmitters only have about 5 frequencies they will play on. Those suck and you WILL have problems with them. The Full Spectrum Transmitters let you choose any channel to play on.
dfairleigh11 0 #6 April 24, 2008 Dunno what kind of car it is, but maybe there's one in this list that will work: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Group/ProductMenu.aspx?g=305250&c=3&tp=120&avf=N I have my iPod wired to my Panasonic head unit with the Panasonic adapter and I love it... ...iPod almost never leaves the car."We'll start the ass kissing with you"

Beer 0 #10 April 24, 2008 I've got the iTrip. It plugs right into the top. No wires or batteries runs off the iPod. You load everything onto the iPod and you select which station you want to broadcast over. Works great. Learn to be happy. byates 0 #11 April 24, 2008 I went to a local car stereo shop and got an in-line FM Modulator. What this does is basically intercepts your antenna connection and for the given frequency it actively blocks receiving this frequency from the antenna so that it doesn't interfere. They will cost you a few bucks more ($75 installed) but will do the trick.
denete 3 #12 April 25, 2008 Find a Walmart and look in the electronics clearance section (near the TVs). I got a Griffin iTrip there for $30. I have the old-style iTrip (round) for my iPod, but I gave the new style (LCD display, stereo/mono, etc.) iTrip to my wife for her birthday. It works great. Because it is a synthesized transmitter, you can use any single-decimal station. Griffin has about 8 versions out now. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
AggieDave 6 #13 April 25, 2008 I use a FM transmitter for my iPod with my work car. It works like a champ, the trick is finding an empty FM station, but that's not too hard. If you can't find a FM channel, then unplug the radio's antenna under the hood and try again. Now that makes it work great. Better yet is you can get good iPod FM transmitters for under $50 on Amazon.com.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." tigra 0 #15 April 25, 2008 For that kind of money, I might as well replace the whole stereo system.
