MagicGuy 0 #1 April 23, 2008 So I just went to check the oil under the hood of my car.. pulled the release to open the hood, NOTHING. Fuck. Try again, nothing. Tried pulling the hood up, thought maybe the release worked and I didn't realize it.. NOTHING. WTF.. I checked out the release itself.. the cord did pull loose of the handle. I replaced it, but still, nothing. Tried pulling just the cable itself, and once again, nothing. What the hell should I do? I have to bring it in for an oil change and don't want the mechanic fucking around and possibly making things worse. Any ideas?
JohnRich 4 #2 April 23, 2008 Sometimes they stick if they haven't been lubed in a while. Have one person press down or pull up on the hood at the same time that you are pulling the release handle. If you put the mechanism under tension like that, they'll usually release. Once it's open, oil the darned thing. Or you could have a broken cable, then... um... well, you're really in trouble. DougH 270 #3 April 23, 2008 Only one way to fix that, pix axe, every one nows that. Put some speed holes in the hood while you are at it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

wildWilly 0 #5 April 23, 2008 Same thing happened to me with my last truck. I had to take off the grill to get at the release mechanism. Got it opened then hooked a piece of coat hanger in the release arm and could reach it from under the bumper. Sometimes you just have to McGuiver things.
