riddler 0 #151 September 27, 2002 Work is as boring as you make it. If you're afraid of your job/boss/company/fellow employees, then you'll never have any fun and you'll be bored as Hell. I try to talk all of my bosses into doing a tandem while I'm on the plane with them - then joke with the tandem master about the "money" I gave him for "you-know-what". Keep skydiving - you will lose all other fears.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

PLFXpert 0 #154 September 27, 2002 How convenenient, I just finished my resume. I'm graduating in December. I'm looking to go into sales...any kind of sales...I'm great at it; probably pharmaceutical sales. Yes, I'm after $$$. But hey, more $$$, means more jumps, more traveling, and hopefully, one day I'll be able to start my own not-for-profit organization (I want to open a nice, safe animal shelter, where no animals are killed and the adoption rate is high. They have one similiar near where I live but they're always low on money, and if I had my own fortune, it wouldn't matter...I LOVE animals.) I'd also like to write a book. Sebazz1 2 #155 September 27, 2002 During the week I am a corporate securities paralegal, and sometimes a litigation paralegal. During the weekend I am a AFF and Tandem instructor at the DZ. I have used my job so far to get me as far as I have in skydiving. I may use the skydiving now to get me back into school... We shall see.

IMGR2 0 #159 September 29, 2002 I work for a charter helicopter company. Can you guess what my favorite question is? Test flight, can I take my rig? My boss asks me every week if I am ever going to ride down in the chopper. My answer was, of course, the day I forget my rig at home. Bryan
Magistr8 0 #160 September 29, 2002 Hey I am also a desk jockey doing system admin for a telco. MTS in manitoba, Canada. It's not bad though, i get to play with expensive hardware all day long. Sit in a server room worth about 800 million dollars. Yeah i'd give it up to jump all day though. "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools." Snowbird 0 #162 September 29, 2002 QuoteWhat happened to the astronomy equipment sales, Tina? The chain I was working at went under. It was still viable and profitable, so I tried to open my own similar science store. Couldn't raise the capital, so I changed 'careers'. I do really miss the astronomy though. happythoughts 0 #163 September 30, 2002 "MTS in manitoba, Canada" Really. I was there in Feb of 98. They wanted to write a combined-billing application. A "Get all your utilitiy bills on one" thing. We did a presentation and it went well, but we had written it in VB and they wanted to use PowerBuilder because that was the "cool" product at the time. It was a fun trip anyway. Got payed to come visit some snow.

denete 3 #170 April 21, 2008 QuoteI have always wanted to be a sky diver, but am worried that my normal day to day life will seem really boring if I do take it up. It is really hard sitting behind a desk all day, after only one jump! Hopefully your job doesn't define who you are. Many people work in order to allow themselves to do the things that they enjoy the most. For me it's a little like the movie Fight Club. I shaved off my goatee, wear my collared shirts, and work in order to get a paycheck and some personal rewards. But, I crank up the music in the car and sit in traffic a happier person because I have been in the sky. ps - I get paid to be a computer geek during the week.SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
Unstable 9 #171 April 21, 2008 I'm a student, studying Industrial Engineering, and I'll escape w a Graduate Degree in about 2 years. In the summer, I work for Cessna Aircraft (You skydivers have probably never heard of them ) in Wichita Kansas. I do Industrial engineering stuff: Manufacturing the planes faster, safer, with less mistakes, redesigning production lines, floor space, ergonomics, et cetera. I love my job. =========Shaun ==========
iambeav2 0 #172 April 21, 2008 Have been a full time student for almost 5 years and still counting, and in the meantime I have been working for Food Lion in the meat department but just quit that last summer (I'm gonna miss the cheap/free meat I was allowed (yes allowed) to take) and Food Lion was my part time job. My full time job is (and has been since HS graduation) a full time Pharmacy Technician. Started at Eckerds when I was 16, then when I graduated HS, I went to the hospital. It's so funny though. Retail pharmacists make BIG bucks and hospital pharmacists make next to shit...and retail techs make next to shit and hospital techs make BIG bucks for a non-degree job. I get paid to edit Video's at my home DZ and am getting my coach rating this month. Since I work 3rd shift I work 7 days on and 7 days off...so on my week off I set up private networks for co-workers and others that have heard by word of mouth. I also do computer repair and build computers. I've now got a damned waiting list and I wish I didn't take so many, I just wanna tell them all to go fuck off so I can just jump!!!...it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you!
