ACMESkydiver 0 #32 April 9, 2008 Quote I realize I have been absent....but work has a way of getting in the way of the gym....and we left town for a while. Now back and getting in the swing of things. On a positive note I lost 3 pounds while on vacation....don't know if it was the lack of the type of food I like to eat or all of the scuba diving but I am not complaining at this point. As of today I have lost 17 lbs from last July - woohoo! Going to try and hit my 135 mark - we will see if I have any success with that or not. Awright! Good goal, and I'm glad that vacation didn't pull you off track. My update for yesterday...REALLY painful, difficult lower body workout with my trainer and my GAWD. I have NEVER felt this much soreness in every part of my tushy ever. I did lunges of course and squats, but I also did these weird squats with an exercise ball against the wall...then I had to sit and hold leaning against the wall (oh yeah I was shaking horribly after the 3rd time of 30 seconds ) and some leg presses, etc... Then some abs... -and today I am just SORE. I mean REALLY sore, like it hurts to try to pick anything up off of the ground. However, I'm not INJURED sore like I am when I try to do the lower body workout I thought was good for me. I guess that's why ya pay a personal trainer -or for me, I just get one with my gym membership to start and then once per month for re-programming. Today I had every intention of going in for my upper body workout, but the boys had an appointment with (lemme see if I get this right!) Otolaryngology this morning, then they're off school, Joe was sick in bed all day, and it's my sis-in-law's b'day and I had to cook. Now I'm too damn tired to go to the gym. I'll find a way to get there tomorrow. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
tigra 0 #33 April 9, 2008 I missed my workout with my trainer last night because I just wasn't feeling well. But after two days with a funky tummy, I think I've lost about 4 pounds! Anyway, I feel much better today so its back to the gym tonight. Latin Cardio/ Zumba class plus I think upper body depending on how much time I have before the class starts. I'm usually too whipped at the end of the class to do much of anything.

tigra 0 #36 April 9, 2008 What's funny is there have been plenty of times when I haven't felt all that great but made myself go to they gym and workout anyway. More often than not, the workout actually helps and makes me feel better. But last night I knew it wouldn't be the case! At the very least, the session wouldn't have been productive. Anyway, I feel a lot better today so I am going to they gym tonight. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it through the class! And yes, illness and aches and pains can derail your workout schedule and good intentions BUT ........ I've noticed something over the past year or so (since I've lost a little weight and have been exercising regularly.) I honestly think I'm so much healthier now in general that when I do get sick, it doesn't last as long or get as bad as it used to.

I have been working at it now for close to 2 years and it has been a pain. But that said I am 40+lbs down 217 at my high but now down to 175, and have been staying at that level +/- a few pounds for over a year now. It can be done it just takes work and dedication. I have found that myself since I've been shoving less sugar and such down my pie-hole...Yesterday I did my upper body routine, and then 25 minutes on the treadmill. I couldn't get my heart rate up, and it was pissing me off! I had the incline set to 2.5%, speed about 3.7-3.8, and still couldn't break 125 until about 20 minutes into it. I guess that means I'm getting in better shape...but the next step is running, and hooooo-Nelly I still don't want to go there yet. tigra 0 #42 April 10, 2008 OK, first of all, good for you that the cardio is paying off and your heart rate isn't climbing into the 150s after two minutes of exercise! That IS a good thing, OK??? A really really good thing! That means you can safely step up the intensity! And 2nd- Rant forgiven- I think I would HATE to be a parent right now because every 5 minutes there is a new study and a new expert telling you exactly what you should have done a few years ago and who knows who is right and who is wrong? And when you've got special kids, that just has to be 1000 times worse. All this second guessing and doubt! I can't even imagine, so go ahead and rant if you need to and I'm sorry you had such a tough day on top of it. Here's something else to rant about- Jenny McCarthy wrote a book about living with her autistic child and what a joy he was and I swear she just released that like 6 months ago and did all those interviews and now she's telling everyone how she and Jim Carrey CURED him through diet and love alone! So, he was still autistic when you were trying to sell your book but now he's cured? Is my take on that assbackwards? Is it no longer "trendy" to have a special child or is she planning another book? I'm heading into the gym today (we were in a ghetto hotel all weekend...no workout room, and no WAY i was gonna get any exercise wandering around the streets! ) I should have done my lunges and squats & stuff, but we just SLEPT the entire time we weren't in training sessions... Sorry you had to read that before I thought better than to dump my poopie day on everyone. But thanks! The Jenny McCarthy thing rubbed me wrong from the beginning...how she was mad that state of CA had her on a 2 year waiting list for assistance (well no shit We are ALL on lists for several YEARS your highness. You can't use your status to move up on the list, and dare I say I'm betting there are people a tiny bit greater need than a wealthy celeb [she claims she is broke all money went to her ex...somehow I don't see her in a 2 bedroom apartment and driving a Honda or anything]) and then that ALL she needed to do was get a loan for $2500 per month for intensive therapy 'like all the other moms out there have to do'. No. Not like all the other moms out there CAN do. And I am all for curing; most of the time when you hear of a child being cured, it simply means they have moved the child/person so far in development/communication that they no longer meet the DSM3 requirements to hold a Dx of 'Autism'. Awesome! Hey if her kiddo is cured, more power to them... -what really gets to us (I mean my friends & I that have Auttie kids) is when someone tries to push their method/drug/potion/treatment as the 'cure' and then accuse everyone else that doesn't follow along as bad parents. HELLO. If there WAS a damn cure, it would work for everyone. We have done/are doing most of the shit she's talking about and our sons aren't 'cured'. I am thankful that kids have been cured. But it's BS to say that the same will work for each -that's why our damn symbol is a puzzle piece- it's a different puzzle for each person. Oopsy there I went again, but I'm not depressed about it any more so it's all good. Thanks for always supporting me T even when I'm in a poopie mood. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
