dragon2 2 #26 March 24, 2010 All skydiving disciplines (also fun to pick what you want to try next!) SL course from last year SL course, plenty of wind, this video includes a "don't try this @ home" landing LOL (also, no idea about the sunglasses LOL) Beginner accuracy competiton, about zero wind, lots of landings of mostly student-type canopies (squares + rounds), not all landings are good examples, this vid includes something you REALLY don't want to do, see both landings of the yellow/red canopy... ciel bleu, Saskia
Baksteen 84 #27 March 24, 2010 The reason why even experienced people are so reluctant to give you advice is because they cannot check over the I-net how that information arrives in a student's head... which might result in an instructor having to 'unlearn' a student something - very hard to do. This is not a slur on you personally, it's impossible to judge anyones personality/character based only on less than ten posts on DZ.com. Go complete your ground school and first jump and tell us how it was. But don't forget to hang around after the jumping is done and talk to the other skydivers at the DZ. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

remibond 0 #29 March 28, 2010 Pretty much just backing up what everyone here is saying. I did my first S/L jump a few months ago with quite a few people through the uni skydive club. when we were all talking afterwards, the two main messages that came through from everyone were 1) Arch til you can't arch no more... then arch a bit further & 2) Listen to the radio if you want to have any hope of landing anywhere near the general landing area Just remember, arch & radio and you'll do great edit to add: oh and if you're bricking it in the plane, try not to look down. it can really mess with your concentration on arching yer arse off
