Thanatos340 1 #1 August 8, 2007 Maybe I am finally showing my age. I just don’t get this texting stuff at all. I can see the use if you need to tell 5 people the same thing like "Meet for Dinner at 8:00" or something.. But people having conversations via txt just doesn’t make since to me. Why not just call them and ask whatever it is, Get an answer and be done??? I get several text messages every week, Almost never respond unless it is "call me" or I will just call them and answer their question. What am I missing here? I don’t get why anyone would want to sit and try to type word on a little number pad. Someone please enlighten me.

simplyputsi 0 #4 August 8, 2007 ahhhhh its simple really. People like to hide behind a screen these days. I am just like you I don't get it, until the other day I got a bill and had texted/received almost 200 messages in a month. Ooops. For me it's mostly I'm saying stuff that others around me don't need to hear and I can't leave where I'm at. I have more than once just called a person back that has texted me and asked why they just didn't call. You're making my head hurt.Skymama's #2 stalker -
sharimcm 0 #5 August 8, 2007 What sunshine said... I can text all day long, but the boss frowns on us being on our cell phones. I hate talking on the phone at night because I am on the phone all day. The last thing I want to do is *talk* to someone. And it doesnt cost $.10 a message?? Dont get me wrong, I dont mind getting text messages, I just always think, why the hell didnt they just call me because there is no way I am typing an answer on this number pad. micduran 0 #8 August 8, 2007 You know you basically just asked to get text message from every person who has your cell phone number, right?Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.
sharimcm 0 #9 August 8, 2007 Quote Then why not Email or IM where you have a full keyboard?? And it doesnt cost $.10 a message?? It's not .10 a message if you have a text plan. I have 400 any person texts, unlimited mobile-to-mobile texting and some internet thingie as a "plan" on my phone. It's cheaper than paying text by text with no plan. But if they expect a response they will be disapointed.Actually I wonder if I can set an Auto-responder to my Phone that just responds to all texts "I dont Text" and a Picture of my nuts? psipike02 0 #17 August 8, 2007 Eh sometimes its just quicker to text. It's pointless to call someone and waste minutes when I can type 5 simple words and just say what I need to say, get the response and go.. Other times its just fun to pass time. Like at work or in class, you're not gonna call your friend and have a conversation. Texting is WAY easier and quieter, plus you can get unlimited text and picture messages....which is why verizon kicks assPuttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----

Unstable 9 #20 August 8, 2007 I really like Tm's when I'm at work - I can carry on a semi-intelligent conversation without letting my Boss' know that I'm talking to my friends. The only thing that bugs me about TM's is Text spam I get from the phone company. before I signed up for a text plan, I was paying some .15 per message sent or recieved. I kept telling Alltell to NOT send me text spam, and I kept on getting them. The thing that bugs me is that I had to PAY to get spam! Now I'm on a plan for $2.50 a month, so it doesn't bug me, but I think it's criminal to send you unwanted junk and make you pay Text fees for it.=========Shaun ==========
