mostwanted 0 #1 March 5, 2006 what do you think of this one: Quoteand you know what? a 200-230 fits just fine in an average skydiving rig. I have a rig that i can put a 220 in - and i also put my 84 velocity in it... just change the loop length and you are set. and while it's bigger than the tiny rigs, it doesn't look like a tandem or those student rigs you've been jumping. i also have two deployment bags; one for the big canopy, one for the smaller one. PhreeZone 20 #2 March 5, 2006 Thats a slick trick there... There is no way one container its all of those correctly. Who ever is tryingto sell you that rig is full of it A 230 is looking at about a J5 in Javelin sizing if not larger. I jump a J2 normally and would'nt realy want to go much smaller then the Katana 120 I put in it last year. I've had a PD Lighting 176 in it but I had material hanging out and a 6 inch closing loop.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
riggerrob 643 #3 March 5, 2006 The seller is pulling your leg. Most containers will gracefully accept one size larger or smaller (about 20 square feet) canopies. You should adjust the closing loop length to maintain sufficient tension on the pin. Trying to stuff a canopy 40 square feet different (from the container manufacturers' recommendations) is asking for trouble. Either you will get a hernia trying to close it, or it will be so loose that it will fall off your back half-way out the door, inflate, tear the tail off the airplane and kill you.
