ACMESkydiver 0 #1 March 8, 2008 Due to messed up footie, several migraines, tension headaches, and one HELL-acious schedule...no working out this entire week. I've been doing so-so on eating...'cept tonight. We went to Red Lobster and pigged out. Yippee. I'm going to start tomorrow off with some pilates, even if still on DVD instead of live... -but anyhow, how are y'all doing?? ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. RALFFERS 0 #2 March 8, 2008 Nothing new to report really...just wanted to chime in & say I'm still cracking away at getting in shape. The sessions with my trainer are a lot of fun - & thanks to him I've also gotten into the habit of getting to the gym early (instead of going at 1:00-2:00 am.) The only thing I still have to get into the habit of now is to finally start stretching! I've been saying for 2-3 weeks now that I need to start doing it & still, I have yet to do it. As much as the increase in strength has helped my arch, the stretching I is almost more important because without it I don't have the flexibility to get my pelvis down as much as I would like and/or is necessary...and this is what provokes all kinds of colorful words. I kinda' feel sorry for my tennants. Edited to add: Hope you feel better soon, Jaye! TheAnvil 0 #4 March 8, 2008 It IS March! LoL! Sounds like you need to do some tai chi or yoga. Hope your foot gets better. I partiipated in the Highland Games here in Bahrain yesterday. Great fun, but I'm a bit sore. Tossing the caber was no joke - it was FUN, though. My first attempt sucked but I turned it at 12:00 the second toss. Hehehehehe. I'd like to try that again a few times. My team took second. Hope a nice run, some stretching, and swimming tomorrow will make the soreness go away. Going to run with the Hash this evening then hit the pool for a mile or so tomorrow. Jet lag has been beaten down so now it's time to kick ass. I drank enough beer, scotch, and tequila at the Games yesterday to make me feel frumpy, so I NEED to work out. SkydiveStMarys 0 #5 March 8, 2008 Weather and schedule have not cooperated over the past two weeks. So I didn't get to work out as much as I should. BUT tomorrow is another day, as today won't allow me to work out either. So.......... BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. selbbub78 0 #7 March 10, 2008 I'm a little behind on my posting.. SorrySo Friday, I didn't do anything, nor had plans to do anything. Yesterday I jogged 4 miles (which was planned), today i played 2 games of soccer (i rocked them too, by the way). Tomorrow I'm planning on doing my training for the marathon run. I think i'm doing 3 minutes of jogging, 1 min of walking for 9 times, wednesday I plan on doing 2 mins of jogging, 1 min walking for 8 times, friday i'm planning on jogging 5 miles I believe it is (i gotta look at my training book). I have a curling game on wednesday as well. I'm starting my new job, so I'm not sure how tough that's going to be with keeping training/running up. That's really all i have for this upcoming week. The pros though: my knee, leg feels fantastic!!! And, yesterday i was able to say no to the girl scouts who were selling cookies. I'm very proud of that one! tigra 0 #8 March 10, 2008 Nothing exactly new- I am trying to watch what I eat, but I wasn't that good this weekend. Not too horrible, but I do better during the week! I did work out on Sunday, so that's one more weekend workout. Yeah! Cardio and legs tonight and upper body with the trainer tomorrow. He's planning to weigh me and he wants me 3 pounds lighter than I was two weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I'm there but it will be close. Wish me luck! I never even noticed. I haven't done squat. These allergies are killing me. So at the very least I'm trying to eat healthy and get all my water in. I need to start walking daily though so I can lose about 10 more lbs and try jogging again. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?
skybytch 273 #10 March 10, 2008 Added two sets of stairs to my walking class last week. 50 steps per set at a jog, one set after each of the first two miles of walking. Phew. Quads didn't hurt the next day so this week I'm upping it to three sets. Took the dog for a three mile walk by the creek yesterday. Well, we got in three miles... I think she got in 8 or 9. ACMESkydiver 0 #11 March 10, 2008 Glad your leg is doing better! I did pilates via DVD the day before yesterday. That was great. No pain in the footie, and I got some work in. Yesterday I took off. Today I went to the gym to see if they have new classes yet (they STILL don't...that's $200 in monthly dues I've paid now and haven't used the gym )...BUT...I remembered about the exercycles they have, and jumped on one of the recumbant bikes for 30 minutes and that did wonders for my heart rate. -I love pilates, but it just doesn't work my heart so much. Only problem was messed up footie was swollen afterwards...I laid on the floor in the locker room and put it up on a bench for about 5 minutes to try to get the swelling down a smidgey. I was planning on driving home & icing it, but the boys' school called & I had some stuff to take care of asap. Ah wells, I did get one session of ice in and I still have it elevated now -trying to get another round of ice in here in a sec. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. sunshine 2 #12 March 10, 2008 I was finally able to go back to the gym today!! My ear infection/laryngitis/bronchitis is gone, and i have my voice back!! I didn't do a full work out since i hadn't been to the gym for a week and 1/2. I only did about 25min on the treadmill, then did my weight training. Ran into my old trainer (can't afford her anymore) and she said i was looking good and she's all proud of me for sticking with this whole workout thing. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! tigra 0 #14 March 11, 2008 If you follow these threads, you'll see most of us aren't reporting in with weekly gains and losses, just progress-if we're sticking to a workout schedule, eating right, that kind of thing. Its more about motivation and encouragement. Personally, I've got a love/hate relationship going with my scale. Weighing yourself daily does give you a baseline and lets you spot trends but on the other hand, the scale obviously doesn't tell the whole story. tigra 0 #17 March 11, 2008 Like I said, the scale doesn't tell the whole story. But, its not exactly pointless to weigh yourself every day as long as you are not the type to freak out over an extra pound or two or get overly excited over losing a pound or two that will re-appear in a couple of days. I'm not, but too many people who are trying to lose weight do both, and it can be really self-defeating. Personally, I tend to over eat and gain when I decide to ignore the scale for a few weeks (or months) and I tend to eat a little bit better when I am weighing myself at least a few mornings a week. But that's just me.

tigra 0 #23 March 12, 2008 Scales are evil! According to the evil scale at the gym, I only lost 1 pound, not the 3 my trainer wanted to see. (I blame hormones!) Sigh...... I'm OK with it, I know I need to lose more weight but I also know I'm going in the right direction pretty much the right way for me and I'm happy with my progress. But dayum- its tough to get lectured about nutrition and diet by a trainer who is 20 years younger than me. I feel like I need to work harder at it just to make HIM happy! Yesterday I did another 35 minutes on the exercycle (this time at my new gym...I was so excited! ) I did reeeally well by bringing an ice pack with me and keeping it in the locker. Right after I was done, I laid on the floor in the locker room, stuck the ice pack on the footie, and rested it on the bench. No swelling issues, no pain.
