Into the Wild

If you haven't read the book the movie is out now at select theatres. Book was by John Krakauer and came out in the early 90's. Screenplay was written by and the movie was Directed by Sean Penn. They started filming where I work and it should be in a theatre near you in the next couple of weeks if it is not already.

Eddie Vedder composed the soundtrack. I expect it will be on alot of skydiving videos in the near future.

The movie should be interesting, the entire story is interesting actually. To bad if he would have gone another mile down stream he would have found the cable tram to get back across the river when he tried to cross it towards the end.

Exactly. Personally, I think he knew that bridge was there. My thoughts, yet everyone has there own opinion.

His story is just another of the thousands that have tried to conquer the Alaska wilderness without the skill or knowledge. I'm a pretty accomplished outdoorsman and I'd pretty much be screwed in the winter up there.

He could have been prepared. I can think of my past and remember a time when I was not prepared and starved.

The book's much better than the movie. They changed some important 'issues/concerns' in the movie from the book.

Still i liked the format that they put the movie in. Of course, if one reads the book you'll be questioning it for a while, until you get used to it. At least I did anyway.

Ya, that article in outside was depressing. Book is still pretty good though.

He definitely was NOT trained to be out there, and had no business doing what he did without the proper training.

He was only a few miles in the woods, but not in the Alaskan Wilderness, not by Alaskan standards anyway. Yea, and to think he was not far from a cable and a stocked cabin that is even indicated on maps is pretty amazing.

i watched him build his cabin on pbs the other night. that is one bad ass dude, not to mention very talented. i would have chopped my fingers off if i tried what he did.

Iread the book years ago and we rented the movie last week. Amazing and touching story. I had to buy the soundtrack too. Eddie Vedder is amazing.
