ltdiver 3 #1 February 26, 2008 Whoo Hoo! Tonight, finally caught that bugger that's been bothering my old dog. He eats my dog's food, takes over and sleeps in her bed and dog house (while she's without), and generally won't let anyone tend to him and whatever fleas he's bringing around. I've had my dog since she was a puppy (15 years old this May) and along comes this ferrel cat to the neighborhood, sporting 2 buddies along with him as well. When he's not pestering my dog, this cat is off eating my neighbor's cat food as well. He's a Tom cat who's taken over the neighborhood. (did I mention he also marked my new front door mat and threshold this week?) Well, I'd finally had enough of it and went and rented a trap to catch him. You know, the one that has a step spring that closes the door behind the cat when he steps up to get the yummy food you left out for him. Just went outside to check the cage and he bit! And he's MAD! Hissing and trying to scratch me through the wire. Didn't know he was actually THIS mean! He's resting in the warm garage now with a blanket draped over to help quiet him. He still has the food and water as he'll wait for morning. Sorry for all you ferrel cat lovers out there, but this cat HAD to go. Now that I've seen him up close I realize just how mean he is and why my dog was never able to sleep when outside (and she's an outdoor dog). She's always wary and pacing when outside since he arrived and sleeps when I bring her in when I'm home. Poor dear. Perhaps she'll rest easy tonight. I figure She will either take this "ferral" feline to the pound or have another weeks worth of chili meat!I am opting for the pound tho??? Damn kids (ferral cat) no respect for the elderly (yr puppy)... We see this in all of nature dont we?

A German guest at a friend's guesthouse got very upset at the breakfast table a few weeks ago - they had 'Black Cat' peanut butter on the table... Turns out he'd been in China before coming to SA & had a dubious culinary experience there A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! D.S #

sharimcm 0 #8 February 26, 2008 My now very domesticated cat was once feral. She's strictly an inside cat now and is quite happy. If you take the cat to the pound, it will be put to sleep. Perhaps you can take the cat to some wooded area far, far away and let it go in the wild? Or, there are feral cat organizations that will take in wild cats... Also, some wildlife refuges will take in feral animals. Just an idea to spare his/her life. ltdiver 3 #12 February 26, 2008 Quote Lori, how much did it cost to rent the cage? $2 a day. I had to drive to get it and will have to take it back, but just to see the contentment on my dog's face this morning it's worth it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #14 February 26, 2008 All the wildlife refuses here are full and there are no "wooded areas" to take the cat to that he wouldn't freeze to death overnight (or get eaten by a coyote or bobcat...desert area). IMO it would be more cruel to subject this cat to that. This cat is NASTY and would not make anyone a pet, no matter how hard they tried. Sorry to say. I'm an animal lover, too (and my neighbor adopts stray cats to spare their lives) but even she doesn't want THIS cat. Yes, the humane society is coming to pick him up. I caught another one earlier in the day and took it to my sister's house where she needed a gopher-catcher in her orchard. THAT ferral cat was at least nice and I think it's got a full belly this morning. And most likely smiling too. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #16 February 28, 2008 QuoteLori, Feed the cat to your dog. It's called karma.... bad cat karma. Your dog has earned it! Cats are evil! Actually I like cats, but not when they torture other pets I love or make an utter nuisance of themselves. I also grew up with an aunt who is deathly allergic to cats, so if I want her to visit the house has to be spot clean. So, no indwelling critters. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
