ACMESkydiver 0 #1 February 24, 2008 Heidi-Hi, peoples! I forgot to post the weekly thread on Friday...y'all have to keep this rolling if I'm away. Anyhoo, yesterday I did 20 minutes on treadmill, abs, lower body workout, back to treadmill. Total workout was probably an hour. Not huge, but I'm working towards my ultimate workouts & I know it will take time to get there. I'm heading out to the gym in about 20 minutes to jump on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Then I'll come home and eat and do my upper body workout followed by light abs. My weight finally budged again (yippee!!) Edit to add: uh, not that I would KNOW if my weight changed really...um, I mean I'm not checking my scale... -Ok it goes in the closet today!!!!~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. It's OK Jaye - we know Last time I worked out was Friday, and all I can say is I'm getting my money's worth working with my trainer. Another thing that happens is when I realize this is occurring I try to correct it by bending the legs more, but then what happens is right legs bends, while the left 1 straightens out - all the while I'm quite tight. I'm gonna be honest and say that I don't know know how long it's going to take me to get in the air, but I am working on it!! Thus far I've been concentrating on strengthening, but I realize that, starting today I need to incorporate stretching into my workout... selbbub78 0 #4 February 24, 2008 heehee, i was waiting for this post!!! Yes, i know anyone can start the thread, but i've sorta become accustomed to you doing it acmeFriday... jogged 5 miles without my knee brace!! A very SLOW 5 miles, but i am only concentrating on running a marathon right now, and i've started back sorta as if i have never exercised before... I was very excited about my 5 miles though. My new heart rate watch should be in on Monday. Saturday i unfortunately overdid it with my knee. I played in 3 curling games (we had a tournament htis weekend), and in the 3rd game, my knee started to hurt me, and by the end of it, it was hurting real bad. That means that today, I had to skip my 2 soccer games, just to be able to do the running of the reindeer this afternoon here in Anchorage. Basically it's a new thing they're trying, it's sorta a playoff of running of the bulls, but with caribou instead... should be interesting. Tomorrow, wednesday and friday i plan on running my training program, and tuesday I might be subbing in in a curling game, and wednesday and thursday I will be playing on my teams games. That's about it that i have planned for the week. [Smile] --------------------------------------------------------- Uuuuum...today?? Where you at, and why didn't you take me with you? I have a cessna dz 25 miles south of me that is open year round. They were jumpin today, but i chose to not freeze my titties off. As for the gym, i did 2.25 miles on the treadmill, then did weights. And i've recently added a new move to my routine. I hold 12lb dumbbells in each hand and step up and down on one of the workout box things we have. It's prolly about 12inches high. The move is aimed to tighten the butt and i can definitely feel that it's working. My glutes are sore - but it's that good kinda sore. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
SkydiveStMarys 0 #11 February 25, 2008 Well last week I only ran 4.36 miles. I was PMSing pretty bad, the stress over my oldest sons situation the week before, and my body trying to come down with the illness that has been making its rounds thru work, I just didn't "feel" like running much last week. BUT, today I did run 2.24 miles and I am feeling better so I am going to really make an effort to keep on my running schedule this week. I'm not going to beat myself up for a slow week last week. I don't want to get "anal" about the whole fitness thing, it will take the fun out of it. teeheee, I said anal..LOLOLOLOLOLBobbi A miracle is not defined by an event. ACMESkydiver 0 #13 February 26, 2008 Yesterday I did 35 minutes of Tae-Bo at 6:45am...then I did half of a really hard ab workout (all I could do with a slightly sore tummy! ) and then I did a really intense upper body workout. Today...soreness! Didn't stretch well enough afterwards...I have still to workout today, but when I do I'll be doing lower body, some abs, and cardio later on. Gotta go get Lil' Blue from the car shop first, though...$950 later...grumble-mumble. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #14 February 27, 2008 My trainer made me get on the scale again last night, PLUS he did the body fat % with calipers. Not too happy with the scale, BUT since the last time he measured, even though I've gained weight, I've gone down in body fat % and the calipers give me a better (and I think more accurate) reading than my Health-O-Meter scale at home. I think he took the last measurement in early December and I've gained 4 pounds of muscle mass since then. That explains why my clothes still fit even though I've gained weight. And even though I do want to lose the weight and make more progress, I feel OK about the body fat %, and the increase in muscle mass ESPECIALLY since I haven't been dieting or paying much attention to what I eat at all. After the weigh-in, we did a pretty hard core full body workout (I'm sore today) and I got a lecture on nutirition and we set a goal to lose at least 3 pounds over the next two weeks. AND, I promised to track my eating, at least for a few days. Wish me luck................

NWFlyer 2 #18 February 27, 2008 Checkup with the doctor today. Blood pressure ... down. Was in the borderline high range, is now in the high normal range. Still want to get it down to optimal, but we're headed in the right direction. Weight ... down (I think by her measurements 27 lbs since December 17). Other labs are improving though I couldn't begin to explain the numbers, they were looking better (cortisol, leptin, insulin were all things she mentioned). After three months on high dose Vitamin D supplements, even that's improved, though it's still low (damn Pacific NW lack of sunshine!), so I'll continue supplementing that. Another set of labs in six weeks, and at some point we'll do another body fat percentage and VO2 max test to see how I've improved over my (rather pathetic) baseline tests. But so far, so good. NWFlyer 2 #22 February 27, 2008 Thanks. And I just have to share this story about how much I totally dig my doctor. While I was waiting I was reading an article in Seattle Metropolitan magazine - the new issue's all about fitness, and it was focusing in on local Olympic hopefuls and their fitness and eating routines. I noted the difference between two of them. One, a swimmer, who said she eats around 4000 calories a day (but when your average day includes 3 hours of swimming workouts, that makes total sense). The other, a soccer player says she has a glass of OJ for breakfast, a salad with tofu for lunch, and dinner varies but it's usually Thai food. I told my doc about this and she said "I need to write a letter to the editor about that. That's ridiculous. She's completely malnourished." We had the appointment, then she grabbed the magazine, and said, "I need to pull that out of here - I don't need my patients reading that kind of stuff." Love her. I have absolutely no idea how anyone can do that to themselves. If you workout it's only natural to want & need more food... I don't know how many calories I'm consuming, but I'm definatly eating more, even on the 2 days a week I'm not in the gym & doing nothing. tigra 0 #24 February 27, 2008 They've got a scale and calipers and a few other things hooked up to a computer. Just one of the cool things I get to take advantage of when since I'm shelling out cash for a personal trainer ....... You can take a bunch of different measurements and come up with a metabolic assessment- your "body age" basically. He did the whole thing back in early December, but this was the first time he busted out the calipers since then. And since my body fat % went down and my muscle mass went up, I wasn't as concerned about my weight as he probably thinks I should be. But lately, I get a bigger kick out of being able to add weight to the machine I'm working on than I do about fitting into a smaller pair of jeans. Ideally, of course, I want to do both but I'll get there.........
