is it weird when parents or people older than say 35-40 have one?

Some particular reason you think people over 40 shouldn't have one? I've found it the best and fastest way to keep in touch with my daughter and my nieces and nephew. When I post a message to any of them, I generally have a response in a pretty short time. Not to mention, I've found quite a few other people my age do have myspace pages and it's a fun way to get to know them.

My Granny just sticks to the old way. The telephone. I have always found the telephone/mobile phone a pretty fast way to achieve the same if not more.

I'm over 40(just barely) and I have one. It's only there so I can share swap photos with my children in florida. It's like a living photo album complete with comments and messages. Our sites are updated regularly and we can direct other family members to our pages so they can share too. It's interesting though that since I started using the site a few months ago when my grandson was born I've been contacted by 4 old high school classmates that I hadn't heard from since graduation.

It's an easy way to stay in touch with friends and family. What does that have to do with how old someone is or whether they have children?

Agreed. I have actually become in contact with some old friends because of myspace and I (probably) wouldn't have otherwise.

it may just be me

but

i dunno i found this guy and his whole family has one i just thought it was weird

I'm a little more worried about you....checkin' out the old guy!:o:ph34r:

Seriously....like Pat said, some of my kids & grandkids are on there, as well as lots of other relatives and friends. It's a lot easier and faster to find someone on Myspace, than to find a phone number....especially, if you don't have an address.

I use it primarily as a personal website, to post my jump pics, vids and experiences. I've probably met more skydivers and riders on Myspace, than at the dz or the track. I was leery of gettin' on there, at first but it's been cool, so far.

You don't know your family and relatives phone number or have it next to the phone or programmed into the phone?

Fair enough, I just always though that was the norm. I guess not for everybody.

I was stationed in England in the early 80's and made a great friend there. We stayed in contact for a few yrs after I came back to the states but then life got in the way and we lost contact for over 20 yrs. I tried to find him but was unable to. 3 yrs ago my son and his son found each other on my space. We have been in contact ever since. We converse monthly by phone but we stay in regular contact on my space. I'm 47 and he is pushing 60. Age makes no difference.
I also stay in contact with my son that way and can also punch up his bands site and find out when and where they are playing.

I may be getting old but I got to see all the cool bands.

See, you're assuming he has a PHONE. Old folks like us are only allowed one piece of technology.

No, not for everybody. Some of us just have larger worlds, than others. Here, we marry outside of the family....family sometimes tends to spread out a bit and we don't stay in close touch, with cousins and more distant "family".

I have a myspace page, but I don't have any pictures or personal information on it.

However, many of my friends have myspace pages and post pics on them. Many of the pics include me.

In order to see the pics, you must have a myspace page.

In function, it is the same as having a dz dot com logon, isn't it?

It seems many the younger people I know ignore phones unless they feel like answering them. They will text message, but I'm pretty slow at that, but it works too. Myspace also lets us share photos that picking up the phone just doesn't do.

Yes! Because of myspace, I am in contact with so many old friends who I had lost touch with over the years, and I love it. :)

Same with Classmates.com...I kinda' shied away from it, at first but now, I'm finding old schoolmates and even people I was formerly stationed with, in the Navy. There are communities for military assignments and places of employment, as well as schools, universities, etc.....kinda' cool.

I have a extended family of around 80. (cousins, second cousins etc) We get together once every year usually. I have always had them in my little phone book. I just imagined that was what people did.

I have a lot of friends on myspace, and some of them are older than 40. What's wrong with that? I definitely don't see anything wrong with that. I think myspace/facebook, etc.. is what you make of it. To me.. it's to keep in touch with friends, and people who have similiar intersts. Meet some new people, but only those with similiar interests as me. I don't see anything wrong with anyone having myspace/facebook, etc...
