rigger_john 0 #1 March 14, 2006 Anybody know where to find a set of specs for the manufature of the dies to set the pins and the terminal ball/ball & shank onto ripcord cables. I have contacted capewell several time but the haven't replied to any emails. Over to you guys _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
3331 137 #2 March 14, 2006 They don't exist, each die is custom made. Only Jump Shack and Capewell have them. They are not available in the public domain.I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
councilman24 37 #3 March 14, 2006 Hmm, I know that Strong had the ability to make their own ripcords. I saw it in about 1995. In addition I thought that paragear used to do it. They may have contracted specific orders out but I know they would supply custom ripcords. Also, Dave DeWolf has a foot operated press that swages pins. So, there have been more sources/options available. But don't know what would be available now in terms of information or equipment.I'm old for my age. Not True, I have dies for shanks, balls and oval terminal ends, Lots of manufactures make there own ripcords. I can make them too but I want to know if there is a spec for the dies. Specifically the ball and shank dies as used by some manufactures._________________________________________ Nullius in Verba

A few years back, I saw a complete set listed in the Wag Aero (?) catalog for US$3600! That included the huge "pliers" and a dozen dies for a variety of other types of hardware - all MIL SPEC. They make dies for the various balls and (when I visited them last March) they thought that they could make dies for the pin(s). They do make a hand swager; I understand that the one that Gary Douris owns is now being used by Sandy Reid in his operation.
