FlyingJ 0 #507 October 14, 2004 My desktop is fairly up to date and I've only gotten 5 units completed in about the same amount of time. Until I saw your post I had totally forgotten it was running in the background. My computer stays on 24/7, so I never think about it!Killing threads since 2004. RevJim 0 #508 October 15, 2004 I've slacked a tad bit. It's going on my 2 laptops (one a dino-266PII, one a decent setup-Athlon XP-M 1.6G). I just decided to wipe my desktop (long story, involving a DOA 250gig firewire drive and frustration) and install Linux. I'm loving the Linux, but still having problems getting the Linux FaH console to run. That suchs too, since my desktop is the fastest system I hove going right now, with an Athlon XP 2G. Those workstations are divided pretty evenly between PIII 933's and 3Ghz P4's. With that kind of processing power, maybe I could help lift dropzone.com from its lowly 80th position. http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=31515 If you haven't joined for the cause, DO IT! RevJim 0 #521 December 8, 2004 It's still up in the air if I'll get in with the campus IT department. If so, that could be up to 2500 more CPU's. Yea, that would be cool. If you are 'worried' about it running constantly, install the screensaver only. I do alot ofhouse calls around here, and the only stipulation (I do it for friends, for free) is that if I fix it, they MUST run my installed screensaver. It works, usually. I know they change it eventually, but then I get to charge them. Screensaver here: http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/release/Folding@Home4_Screensaver.EXEIt's your life, live it!
