Gato 0 #1 February 7, 2008 I've been doing a lot of writing lately, and contemplating going back to school, and my wife tells me this evening she's bought me a Mac Powerbook!!! I almost cried. Since I spend only about 3 or 4 hours a day teaching music, I've been doing all my writing at home, which means I'm alone for too many hours during the day. Anyone who's ever worked from home knows the danger of depression creeping in. She recognized this (it's happend to both of us) and had them install an airport card for me, making it possible for me to be one of those assholes who spend all day at Starbuck's with a laptop. I can't wait. Jen is a writer for a major ad firm here, and is one of the best I've ever read, seriously. And this woman, who kicks major ass at what she does, is encouraging me to write for a living! I hope your significant other has this kind of faith in you - I'm blown away by how much she believes in me. Thanks for listening, GatoT.I.N.S.

Gato 0 #5 February 7, 2008 Quote how long have you been together? Just celebrated 10 years on November 21st! I feel VERY fortunate to be with someone like her - we're both geeks, yet sexy.Seriously, she paid for my FJC awhile back, even though she has no interest in jumping (YET). So I gave her fencing lessons for one of her anniversary gifts.T.I.N.S.

Believe it or not, every man who has married into her family has received a t-shirt or sweat shirt that reads, "Damn Lucky." True story. The thing is, I may be the only one who is actually damn lucky - most of her female relatives are absolutely wacko.T.I.N.S.
DrewEckhardt 0 #7 February 7, 2008 QuoteI've been doing a lot of writing lately, and contemplating going back to school, and my wife tells me this evening she's bought me a Mac Powerbook!!! I almost cried. My wife traveled 1000 miles to fetch me when I broke myself, has driven me everywhere (like to work 5 days a week) for the five months I haven't been driving, moved 9 times so I could find the next job I was passionate about, lived in my bachelor pad (think construction project just complete enough to have a 250 pound projector hanging from the living room ceiling), lived in two states where her kids don't, found me my current killer job, sold three properties and bought one without a real-estate agent, acted as general contractor and laborer on four remodeling projects, and found our current apartment. She's a geek too (we met at our last startup. Turns out she was sleeping in her car when I slept under my desk) and completely understands what I do at work. Scores about the same at Scrabble so it's interesting. Likes the same movies and most of my music. She's adopted my cat in spite of having asthma. He's her baby now, getting lots of squeezing and love. She shops at Asian and Mexican markets, feeds me all sorts of tasty food (like home made cheese cakes, goat, german pancakes, wonderful omlettes) and buys my Arrogant Bastard ale. She travels light (we only took one carry-on and a small day pack with us for our 10 day honeymoon) and goes with me on jumping trips even though people have died just 10 feet away. My birthday present this year is a plasma TV so I don't even have to get out of bed to watch movies with her. My birthday present last year was an artist's loft in downtown Seattle so I could play with my toys and power tools even though we were living in a high-rise. That's just the start of how freakin cool my wife is. We've been friends for six years, a couple for four, and married for two so we're just getting started. Our wedding was exactly 10 years and 10 days after my first skydive so the date is easy to remember.

Our wedding was exactly 10 years and 10 days after my first skydive so the date is easy to remember. I am pretty spoiled myself...Doc got me certified in scuba including my advanced and nitrox. Married me a year ago on the beaches of cozumel....learned to skydive and loved it so much encouraged me to do it if it was something that I wanted. He was supportive of me when I was getting my Bachelor's and my Master's degree....for my birthday a couple of weeks ago planned a surprise party and even though he had bought me a new parachute...wanted to make sure that I had something to open on my birthday so he bought me a 37inch LCD TV.....best of all he is my best friend and he has always tried to make all of my dreams come true.....the rest of it is icing on the cake....just him loving me and allowing me to be me and saying that "honey, I like who you are..." is the best thing in the worldDPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! johnboy 0 #12 February 8, 2008 I like this thread. Lots of cool spouses out there. So here's my turn.... 12 years of marraige with 3 beautiful little girls, puts up with my eclectic tastes in music and my love of falling, and when my business collapsed a few years ago because of a bastard partner, all she said was, "well, that was just an expensive lesson in choosing business partners. What are we going to do next?" When I suggested selling gear to cover bills, she told me I sacrafice too much already and wouldn't allow it. Truly a remarkable woman and I am so blessed to have her. Thumbs up to all great spouses everywhere!!!
