BillyVance 34 #10 February 6, 2008 Welcome to tornado alley you Brit! I get these sirens at least 3 or 4 times each spring and fall when tornadoes are most prevalent. We don't normally see them in the winter though. And yes, if I'm standing outside or have a window open, I can hear the foghorn-sounding sirens. There's a siren just 500 yards from my house. Most of the time when tornadoes enter Alabama from Mississippi, they peter out just before reaching my county. Sometimes I get a little disappointed... figure that one out! I would think underground concrete housing in Kansas etc.... would be all the rage... The other problem is there are FAR too many mobile homes in that part of the world.. and we all know that tornadoes are attracted to those.
Sheenster303 0 #17 February 6, 2008 I am soooo scared of tornadoes for some reason. When I was younger, the sirens would go off in the middle of night and I would RUN downstairs to our basement and start crying hysterically if my whole family wasn't directly behind me. I still freak out when I hear the sirens, but I don't cry anymore. You would think that living in Georgia I would be used to it by now and not so scared. Tornades are frightening! Don't mess with em!I'm so funny I crack my head open! P.M.S. #
