It's not so much an issue of being sensitive as keeping the discussion at a certain level. We have already seen how fencing matches have dragged debates downhill. If two people can just go back and forth wasting perfectly good bandwidth saying "fuck you asshole" for 3 pages people will not want to filter through all that to get to the discussion. THe moderation of that actually makes this an excellent forum (even speakers corner).
I agree, however, the mods here take it WAY overboard.
