I posted on here a while ago about purchasing a tv... then went out and got one, and heard from a quite a few folks (on here and off) that a combo tv/dvd player was a bad idea. So... I was online shopping and bought one from Costco... but I got it and it was a piece of crap! The quality on screen was not anywhere near what the best buy one was... so I took that back. Then this morning I read the ad for Target and they had an Olevia 26" LCD HDTV on sale for 447, and it included an HDMI cable to connect a dvd player or cable up to. So.. bought that... brought it home... and..... it doesnt work Plugged it in, read the instructions on the disc (not very helpful by the way). The little blue light is on... but nothing is happening. its just a dark blank screen. I tried calling their tech support, but they dont have any tech dudes on the weekend. So.... i went ahead and drove the 20miles roundtrip again to exchange it for another tv. And this one is doing the same thing i've got it plugged in, I have my antenna thing plugged in.. it should be good to go. But nope, nada zilch. The only time it does anything is when I turn it off, a blurry image of Olevia comes on and then disapears. Anyone else buy one of these or know anyone who's had any issues?? duroejc 0 #2 January 28, 2008 I have one- 37". I like it very much as a bedroom TV. Since it is a hard drive based tuner it takes some time to change channels- 2 seconds or so which can be annoying if you are a big surfer. Picture quiality is very good. overall an excellent value. I didn't have any problems getting it to startup- you did have to download some parameters- If you go to their website it may help. I hope you have success. enflyt 0 #3 January 28, 2008 wow okay nevermind. apparently... when the light is ON... it means the tv is OFF... but if its off, then the tv comes on like 10seconds later. strange. but whatever. at least its working... now i just have to continue on with the setup. Yeah I also have a TV with a "standby" light. There is a red light to tell you when the TV is OFF. How stupid is that?
