jonjonson 0 #1 April 7, 2006 I just bought a used Tony suit and I have gotten off my static line course, I am on my 8th jump. My suit fits very nice. It is tight all in the waist and torso, it has Velcro around the bracelet and ankles, but they are bell bottoms around my shins. Should I be concerned about the extra fabric? If so, can I get it tailored? It is a little tight in the back if I bend forward and touch my toes, I was thinking of adding some material to the back so it won’t rip in the long run. Let me know what ya think. Blue Skies Forever

skybytch 273 #4 April 7, 2006 QuoteShould I be concerned about the extra fabric? Depends on how fast you fall. If you're a big guy (ie not skinny) you're probably going to want that extra fabric. If you're not a big guy you may not want that extra fabric. I wouldn't suggest doing anything to that area until you're flying with other people; until then you won't know if you have a fast or slow fall rate. QuoteIf so, can I get it tailored? Yes. How much that will cost depends on who does the work, how the suit was constructed and if there are any stripes or appliques in that area. Having the manufacturer do any alterations to it is a good idea; that way you can be sure the work is done to the same standards as when the suit was originally built, but you can have a local seamstress or tailor do it too. Once you know if you need to alter it, contact the manufacturer for a price/time quote. QuoteIt is a little tight in the back if I bend forward and touch my toes, I was thinking of adding some material to the back so it won’t rip in the long run. Is is tight from neck to crotch in the back? If that's the case, I'd suggest having a gusset added to the crotch, instead of adding fabric where the "pants" portion of the suit meets the "top" portion. A crotch gusset will lengthen the torso and also make the suit more comfortable by adding some articulation to the legs (like the gusseted crotch construction of some rock climbing apparel does).
