Dougiefresh 0 #2 April 7, 2006 Lots of people send in their cypres units about this time of year in preparation for the spring. They're probably just backed up.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
newguy1 0 #3 April 7, 2006 i thought of that also. but you start to worry that something might be wrong with it, hopeing that if there is they would just call so i could buy a new one and get this over with. i miss my baby
councilman24 37 #4 April 7, 2006 Cypres service takes 14 days at the site, unless a problem is discovered. No more no less. Plus 2-3 days shipping each way. Figure 19 to 21 days from shipment for return. You say you sent your rig. What's that mean? When did the rigger get it? When did he get around to taking the cypres out and sending it in? When was this last time you called? Take all of the above into account. Plus add how busy the rigger is and where you are in the queue. Probably not out of line yet.I'm old for my age. newguy1 0 #5 April 7, 2006 thanks for the input. i dont think it's out of line yet, just getting anxious. plus i do not want to keep calling because i know they are busy this time of the year and they do not need 100 phone calls a day
masterrig 1 #6 April 7, 2006 Sometimes, there could be a part of the Cypres check that SSK may have a question about and will forward a Cypres to Germany for Air Tec to check-out. Then too, it couvery well be what Terry said about back-log and etc. Have patience, you'll get your rig back soon enough. Chuck
PhreeZone 20 #7 April 7, 2006 Your rigger should have recieved an email when SSK recieved it. Figure 2 weeks from then is when they will be about done with it. IF there are issues they wil lhave been talking to your rigger about the issues.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rigger_john 0 #8 April 8, 2006 Another thing that needs to be taken into account is that should any deviation in the units reading be found. It goes back to the start of the test program once that hass been fixed. so if some thing is found at the end of the test period it hass to go right back to the start. Airtec are very careful with thier QC so it can end up taking a lot longer than the standard. Personaly I find this very reasuring._________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
riggerrob 643 #9 April 8, 2006 We tell Canadian skydivers to plan on waiting 6 weeks for their Cypres to return from SSK (in Ohio). Rocket mail does not seem to speed up the process. Furthermore, border guards KNOW when you are in a rush and find excuses to delay packages at the border. Hee! Hee!
fcajump 164 #10 April 10, 2006 For the rest of you (us), it is my recollection that they will take the unit up to 3 month ahead of its due date. Better to send it in Dec/Jan than mid-spring. Both for you to not jump in the winter and for their delays of handling the spring rush. Jim PS - to my SA, OZ, NZ and other "upside-down" friends , please forgive my Northern hemisphere centric thinking. Hmmm... or should that be (-: ?Always remember that some clouds are harder than others...
