Gear reccomendations!

Recommended Posts

Hey all!
I'm pretty new to the skydiving scene with an A- license and 33 jumps or so. I've just bought a used Javelin complete with a Safire 150 main and i'm pretty happy with it. i've only jumped the canopy once; some of my previous experience had been on a safire 170 so the new chute was quite a bit faster and more responsive in turning. My wing load is about 1.1 on the 150 main, does anyone think that this is too much for somone with minimal experience? I'm fairly confident under canopy and i've always managed to land standing so far but i'm not sure whether to buy a slightly bigger chute. I'm heading to ramblers near Brisbane next week to start gaining some more experience with other jumpers - can't wait! Still need to buy a feckin cypres though which is proving a pain in the neck as second hand cheaper models are hard to come by.

p.s Sorry i've just realised that the gear forum may have been a more appropriate place to post this!

Talk to your former instructors and the S&TA (or equivilent) on your DZ. If they're telling you the canopy is too small, it is. They're the ones that see you jump, they're the ones that know. Anything else you hear from elsewhere take with a grain of salt, simply because they don't see you jump. AND 1.1:1 on a 150 is considered high performance. Not something that's great for someone with 30-ish jumps.
