skymama 37 #1 January 14, 2008 Prepping for a colonoscopy makes for a really shitty day. Pun intended. That drink is the absolute worst think I've ever had to put in my mouth. By the 11th glass, I would have rather been on Survivor eating bugs. If this is TMI, that's just too damn bad. I can't have any chocolate or wine today, so I'm grouchy in addition to hurting from what I went through today. It was bad, very bad. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

kbordson 8 #6 January 14, 2008 GoLytely? or MagCitrate? Note - use moisturized wipes instead of toilet paper so that it's not so irritated. And tomorrow.... ask for Versed. A little retroactive amnesia can be a good thing.

skymama 37 #9 January 14, 2008 It says TriLyte on the big, hulking container that's laughing at me in my refrigerator. And, I swear, I'm never going to be able to eat green jello again for the rest of my life. (For those who don't know, you're not allowed to have red or orange. Those are the best flavors!) Plus, I'm an idiot. I had my choice of appts. at 6:30 or 10:30. I picked the later because I didn't want to get up at 5:00. I didn't even think about not being able to eat after midnight. I'm already starving! Muenkel 0 #11 January 14, 2008 Why the colonoscopy at your age? I thought those started at 50. Anyway Andrea, if you weren't married I would offer to gently tend to your ass all night. _________________________________________ Chris

They better not have lied to me! The anticipation is the worst part of it. Tomorrow will be nothing compared to tonight, so no need to worry. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy a couple of months back. Once they knock you out, you don't feel a thing at all. For me, even with a bunch of biopsies, there is no pain afterward either. Good luck!!!

Good luck with the test and the results. ps. if you use astroglide, there might be less blood in the stools.

jm951 0 #18 January 14, 2008 Since it's one of the tests to rule out other things, better to have done with it to get some peace of mind. My wife recently had a potentially severe problem that was ruled out by the exam, so it does help in that regard. Hope the exam comes back negative on anything bad. jdthomas 0 #19 January 14, 2008 I had the golytly just a few months ago, I had the blood in the stoll going on and alot of pain.. got the scope and all is decent, just finishing up my meds this week and everything is getting back to "normal". The scope is not at all the worst part, it's the prep! The prep is not fun at all and like you i will not be eating Jello anytime soon. Good luck to you and I hope that all your results are good news and no negatives! Joewww.greenboxphotography.com

irisheyes 0 #22 January 14, 2008 No you won't hurt tomorrow at all. Apart from being really thirsty when I woke up the morning of the procedure, I felt fine. I was surprised that I was not sore! I had mine at 9am and was fine by noon...probably could have gone into work, but had already called in for the day so I stayed home and relaxed. Oh and I'm 33. I was terrified when the doc told me I needed one, but he assured me it was not all that unusual for someone my age. And, I've since learned he was right. skymama 37 #24 January 14, 2008 Oh, what a relief that tomorrow won't suck too! I'm not too worried, but peace of mind is a good thing. Thanks for the well wishes and advice to everyone. Oh, and I can't have my usual coffee in the morning either, so I'll be especially grouchy.
