Ladies! Fingernail polish or no??

Recommended Posts

My nails are natural--no acrylics or anything like that. I like to polish them and it actually helps to strengthen and protect them. However, the wind tunnel is pretty hard on them and so I don't wear polish as consistently as I used to because it's a lot of maintenance. My toenails almost always have polish on them, though. I guess I'm a blend of polished and plain!

Fake nails are a waste of money. I'd rather use the money to skydive. Also, I would probably have flesh wounds all over the place if I had big nails.

I'd like to wear nail polish more often but it dries out the tips of my fingers for some reason so I never wear it.

I do keep my toes painted during summer sandle season.

I think the OP is asking the wrong crowd this question. Most of us skychicks are probably "lower maintenance" than non skydivers as far as stuff like that goes.

My nails don't really grow well and I tend to bite them. For a while, I did the acrylic nails but I kept them at a reasonable length and I maintained them. Most people couldn't tell they were fake when I had them. (I don't think there's a whole lot uglier than broken and chipped acrylic nails, or ones that are way overdue for a "fill"!) One thing I will say is that the polish tends to stay on acrylic nails a lot longer than it does on "real" ones, at least for me. I enjoyed having pretty "girly" hands and nails but the process is terrible for your nails, not to mention expensive and time consuming so I eventually gave that up.

I do try to get occasional pedicures and keep my toes polished during the summer months.

My toes are painted all the time, it's always sandal season in Florida. They're usually coral in the summer and red in the winter. They must look ok, they were good enough for national television!

I'm lucky to have very strong fingernails, so it's easy to keep mine long. I got a manicure before my wedding (I think it was my second manicure in my whole life) and the lady next to me thought my nails were fake. They're filed round and are short enough not to get in the way on the keyboard. If I'm dressing up and have time, I'll put a coat of very light pink on my fingers.

I hate french manicures, I think they look way too fake and those white strips look weird.

almost always on my toes... I hate it when they're not done.

But I cant get a manicure to last longer than me getting into my car, so i've pretty much given that up. Acrylics are nice, if you an afford to keep them up. I guess i'm too rough with my hands cause i'd always end up breaking them... and when you do eventually take them off, your nails are super brittle.

I've only had my nails done once professionally. It was a first-gift from Bill. Very sweet of him.

I hated it.:D:P My fingers felt heavy. Ewww. And I completely ruined "the finish" w/in hours.

My nails stay trimmed and bare. Both feet & hands. And I still get compliments. B|

I can't stand polish. I think it looks cheap no matter how it's done, unless it's done "natural" and then it looks kinda weird.

Just my opinion.:$

Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

It is! And I still prefer the natural, bare toenails.

When I look down in the sand on the beach at my feet, somehow red toenails just look completely out of place to me.

But if you must, I think coral is very pretty.:)
