BirdWoman 0 #1 January 2, 2008 My hubby and I decided to get another kitty, so today I went and rescued a kitten from a local Houston kill shelter. A better way to sat it is that he adopted me! He is a 3-4 month old orange tabby and is an absolute love. Can you tell he's happy to have a new home?? micduran 0 #4 January 2, 2008 Male orange tabbies are the best cats! They are so affectionate and playful. I've had 3 in my life. Have fun with him.Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.

tigra 0 #8 January 2, 2008 I've got to agree. I've got a real soft spot for the orange tabbies. I've shared my home with two of them and they were awesome cats.

skycop 0 #13 January 3, 2008 I know some of you think I spend my days tazering innocent people but I do have other interestsWe've rescued a greyhound and three cats. I found one abandoned kitten while working and kept him. The other two cats we got at the pound. Our greyhound "Doug" only lived 4yrs after we got him, he was a good racer, he was 4 when we got him. Unfortunately his kidneys failed from all the years of being fed raw meat (at the track). Rescuing an animal is a very noble act, you should be proud. PLFXpert 0 #14 January 3, 2008 Quote And thank-you for adopting from a kill shelter!!! Most definitely! This year we decided Cruz (our dog, "Cruzer") needed to get into the spirit of giving back. We called our local Animal Care & Control where we adopted Cruz and asked what things they were most in need of--then stocked them up! Cruz wore his reindeer antlers & had fun shopping for all the gifts. Of course, we had to let him keep the $1 squeaky ball he picked out for himself in the checkout isle.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. sharimcm 0 #19 January 3, 2008 He is so handsome!! I rescued two dogs from a kill shelter a few years ago, and 'rescued' a feral cat from an unknown fate about a year ago. The dogs are awesome, and the cat... Well, she's a cat, but she has adjusted well to a 'home life.' She 'yells' at me as soon as I walk in the door, and rarely leaves my side if I'm home. By the way, I think Velo is a great name!! hungarianchick 0 #22 January 3, 2008 Congrats on your kitty, he is adorable! He looks very similar to our first "child", also an orange tabby, almost three months old. I've had a few of them before and they all had great personalities. On our first visit to the vet we were informed that the actual name for 'orange' coloring in cats is called the Red Mackerel Tabby. Who knew! "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."
BirdWoman 0 #23 January 3, 2008 I keep telling you...Angus is what Texans call a good steak! So far he is adjusting well. I went to the store to pick up a few things, and when I got home I found that Velo had been playing in the freshly watered bamboo pot. I have to admit the muddy kitten paws on the wall were way cute! Given that it's his first night home, he hasn't given our border collie too many growls. My other cat is mad at me but she'll adjust. I'm just glad I was able to save a life today. It always makes you feel good. "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
