JohanW 0 #26 January 8, 2008 According to 'anything that keeps you from jumping' I guess my number is 1 in 1300-odd. Nothing broken, but *extremely* sore, enough to keep me from jumping for a day and a half on a boogie. Do not hook low, it hurts. That was more than 5 years and more than a thousands jumps ago. I intend to _remain_ at 1 per career. I intend to have at least four as my number (of an entirely different kind) for 2008. Wingsuit boogies/competitions/records. Spa (BE) in April, Cochstedt (DE) in August, Elsinore and Eloy (US) in November.Johan. I am. I think.
happythoughts 0 #27 January 8, 2008 Quote If I thought I was going to get hurt skydiving, or driving my car, or flying my jet, I'd not do it. My problem is that everytime I strap one of these things on, I really believe that I can do it safely, without hurting myself or someone else. Golly, I'd love to keep the streak going. Fingers crossed. Yep. Risk management. We figure out what the risks are. We understand the process to avoid them. Everybody does that. As skydivers,we trust our skills. (Even if we are over-confident in our Mad Skillz. ) I guess my thinking is that people should consider what is going on. In the last 50 jumps, if there was a jump or landing that got a little scary, maybe that deserves some thought. Example- "I thought I had my swoop dialed in, but I was barely able to dig that one out." The last 100 went well, but this one didn't. The number is just a consideration that breaking a leg in one out of every 100 landings isn't good at all. Trying to figure it out is important. Maybe dial it back for 20 jumps and review the video of some landings. What is more important? Doing something this week or enjoying it for the next 5 years? wmw999 2,544 #35 January 9, 2008 Quotefolks that jumped rounds and are STILL in the sport. Holy crap, they must be made out of stronger stuff than I ever was.I'm one of those people that others look at and say "she can't land worth a shit." I fall down a lot; it's a decision. I also get back up each of those times. I'd prefer to keep on my current trend, which murphy prevents me from discussing.
