allaxis.ca 0 #76 December 11, 2007 Well, it does stray from the original enough as to not confuse people, while it does maintain some 'original content'. The usage of a different color and the inclusion of additional text would surely give the impression that it in now way is associated with dz.com. I'm thinking if we simply drop the 'DOT' it really separates the designs and simply make a statement. Tell me, the pink, is that color the Pantone 212C or is it the web-safe #ff3399? Actually i think it's cause he's not one of the people in the 'in crowd' around here. Seems like those people get away with everything. I'd rather be around people like you and me that actually speak our mind whether it's the popular opinion or not. Kinda like junior high. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!

DSE 5 #82 December 12, 2007 I agree. I wonder how long the Conatser family would let me get away with making "Perris.bum" Tshirts, or how long Larry Hill would let me get away with making "Skydive Aridzona.bum" Tshirts. They've invested in building their brand. In a large coporate world, I don't agree that using a logo is as harmful as it is in a small boutique community, particularly when the exact/identical logo is used. I find the "Bounce" shirts quite clever, and have no problem with them, because even at a side glance, it's pretty obvious that it's not "Bounce" laundry products. Then again, I've also always been a pretty staunch defender of intellectual property rights, just google my name with "copyright" appended to the search. sangiro 26 #83 December 12, 2007 Quote ...and I’m honored to have a complete thread dedicated to one of my designs. It's not one of your designs. Without prejudice to my sentiments about your business ethics I have no intention of getting myself worked up about this. Lee from Velocty Sportswear wanted to do something similar a while ago. They showed me the courtesy of asking and I explained to them why I prefered they didn't. They respected that wish and I now hope people will spend money at their t-shirt store instead. Happy holidays all! Safe swoops Sangiro

catfishhunter 2 #87 December 12, 2007 Thanks for replying HH. This answers the questions I had on this and should answer things for everyone else as well. NickDG 23 #88 December 12, 2007 I don't get it . . . This kind of backhanded "theft" seems rampant in this sport. One time back when Day Pacs that looked like rigs were cool I designed one that looked like a Velcro closed BASE container. I advertised it in my BASE Magazine, the Fixed Object Journal, and used it at the Perris DZ were I worked. A few weeks later the new Square One Catalog came out and it included my BASE Day Pac. When I confronted Tony at SQ1 about it he blew me off with, "Hey, that's how it is in the sewing biddniss!" As it wasn't patented it wasn't llegal but it stunk to high heaven nonetheless . . . I'm sure HH put an effort into his logo, and it means something to him, and it should be respected as such . . . NickD

As far as being a dz bum goes that is fine with me if that is what someone wants but don't bitch, whine and cry when you're broke in the winter or when the weather is bad and don't pitch a bitch when new people want to get ratings and work at the dz where you are.In 9 yrs of jumping I have seen almost no good come from someone wanting to "make a living" skydiving.
