schleckschling 0 #1 April 28, 2006 Hi, this week I bought a Bonehead Mindwarp helmet. On the original photo http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/mindwarp.htm, the chin strap is mounted through the holes in the shell. So there's no possibility for lines to be caught between the shell and the chin strap. When I received my helmet, I recognized that my chin strap is mounted on the instide of the shell. Because of that, I'm afraid of lines beeing caught... What do you think...is this a high risk?? Do I have to modify the mount for the chin strap??? ripcord4 0 #3 April 28, 2006 Stay stable at pull time and that will keep your head out of the lines. Don't worry about it. I have a Guner with the strap fastened inside the shell and it has never come close to snagging a line. With your profile you have more important things to obsess about! I'm wondering why the helmet on the Bonehead website is published with the better chin strap mount... pilotdave 0 #8 April 28, 2006 I'm just guessing the concern is in reference to this post: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2184156 I'm sure it's possible to come up with a scenario where something could snag on the edge of a helmet, but I doubt there are any recorded incidents of a broken neck due to a helmet snag because of how the chin strap is attached. TimDave 0 #9 April 29, 2006 I have 90% of my jumps with boneheads with various chin strap/cup configurations and am completely confident with the safety of the helmets. Even had some violent spinning mals test jumping canopies and no issues. If you are not comfortable with it send it back.
