DZ.com Fitness Updates -First week in December!

Recommended Posts

Hey all...sorry I forgot to post yesterday! :$:$:$ Please don't anybody wait on me! If the new thread hasn't been started, well by all means go for it!! B|

Me, I've been eating a TON of salt the past couple of days. No idea why. I'm so in need of salt I downed handfuls of smoked almonds, wasabi chips, and almost busted open a salt shaker. :S I've never craved salt that badly before! :P

It reflected in the weight...retaining so much water from that 2-day salt dump that I'm up about 2 pounds of water weight. I'm not worried about that.

What is bothering me is a couple of times that I've been walking/jogging outside or on the treadmill, my throat started closing. [:/] I freaking hate that. It used to happen to me all the time in the army, but I never said anything because I didn't want to get chaptered out. :$

Anyhow, that happened again about an hour ago on the treadmill. The weird thing is I was watching a movie and a sad part came on, and I don't typically cry during movies, but it made me kinda sad and I got a bit of a lump in my throat. The 'sad' throat became a constricted throat, and I couldn't get it to where it wasn't restricintg my breathing again without stopping. :S

Come to think of it, I do remember having breathing issues when I'd let those stupid defeatest thoughts in on a run.."I'm not gonna make it...it's too long...I'm going to fail this test...I wish I was out of here..." blah blah blah. I'd talk myself into failing. :S

Other times I'd just somehow end up pushing too hard...like running with my husband. I try to push harder so he doesn't have to circle back so often, and my throat started constricting on that run, too.

Did it again on a walk/jog that unintentionally turned into a 2 hour session. Maybe I just pushed too hard.

How are all of you doing?

Fell off a bit with cardio for about a month because someone stole my iPod and going to the gym w/o my iPod is incredibly difficult as i do everything to music....especially working out.

BUT, i stayed with the gym part of it at least. Work has also gotten way busier, but i've switched my workouts to the afternoon now instead of the morning because of a switch-up in the work schedule.

However, my strength has started to increase in a much greater proportion, particularly in the areas of my chest, lats, traps, and upper back. I'm squatting about 320 lbs right now as well too...which isn't much but a step up from where I was.

I also bought a brand new iPod classic yesterday and will be starting back with cardio tomorrow

I dont trust the scales at my gym anymore as they give me a different weight everytime I go. Ranging from 242 lbs to 265 lbs. It fluctuates way too much for my taste and so don't even rely on it anymore, which I feel is a good thing.

I've also gotten compliments from friends who haven't seen me in a while about how much bigger I've gotten since the last time....and from girls as well. My shirts and polos look awesome on me and my chest is finally getting to where I want it to be....with my workout plan in place, and me going on spring break with my friends again this year (yes I am still going on spring break w/ my friends from college), that is more motivation for me to look my best...

With my iPod, it should be way easier too

One more small update to make, since the new thread is not yet available.

Swam Friday morning, finally figured out how not to choke off my oxygen when using the snorkel, so I flew through my 500m with the snorkel on. Did it in something like 7:10. More kick development and anaerobic conditioning, and did 300 pushups when I got home from work. Swam again this morning, and despite having pulled a small muscle in my right upper back, and everything else being sore, I still swam a faster 500m, completed in 6:50. Getting below the 7 minute mark with the gear swim is a first, so it's got my ego pumped up even more... as if that was possible. Anyway, I'll probably do a bunch of ab work later, and running tomorrow, so we'll see how all that goes.

Updating what I said earlier, I did 300 situps tonight in addition to my swim. Tomorrow I'm going to run, probably not in the pre-dawn hours unless I'm not hungover. And I'm going to do more flutterkicks, because they definitely helped my fin swimming.

You might want to get all of that looked into. I don't want anything to happen to ya. :-)

As I'm still busting ass to drop my last 10-15 pounds to bring me down to 125 pounds, I've made some radical changes.

1. I'm giving up caffeine - slowly, one day at a time.

2. I'm watching my sugar intake - 45 grams max. And let me tell ya, that is hella hard. But amazingly, I can get away with eating less while sustaining my energy level. I think this will be the BIGGEST key in dropping the weight.

Yeah and I screwed up my right knee. I really need to go to a doctor.

I'm still putting in 2 days of full body resistance/weight training a week and 5+ days of cardio - ranging from the ellyptical, cycling, and running, weekly.

Yoga twice a week and a very strict diet, with one splurge day a week.

My first day back on my routine after taking almost a month off during the ball in vegas and my vacation left me hurtin' somethin' fierce. Lifted on Wednesday. Now it's saturday and my tits are sore as hell. (I lifted chest on wednesday.)

Oh well, I'll be back on it full time starting monday.

Ran another 3 miles at an 8 min/mile pace again, still reconditioning. I give it another week or so before I'm able to break that 24 minute mark convincingly.

Funny story though. Exactly a week ago, last Sunday 12/2, I ran my 3 miles in a blinding snowstorm. Upon finishing, I taunted Mother Nature with, "You're going to have to try harder than that to get me down." Well, apparently she's been taking it seriously. It's been freezing the last few runs, and the one I did on Thursday it was about 22 degrees minus whatever wind there was. Still survived the run, and felt pretty good about it. Well, today she really took the taunting to heart, and slapped me with sleet. Interestingly enough, the sleet stopped altogether just before I finished the run. It was strange, almost as if Mother Nature called it quits because she knew she wasn't getting to me. Now I feel like she's going to hit me with something far worse the next time.:S

Just completed 300 arm haulers and 300 situps. That's enough for today. Tomorrow it's a swim, then a few hours of work, then I go to MEPS to check in, and get my last remaining medical issues out of the way Tuesday.

Actually, I'm distinctly worried about that. I keep taunting her, and she's probably going to test me harder and harder each and every time. Although maybe it's a sign that I really am supposed to be a rescue swimmer. If shitty weather can't stop me, and pain/discomfort can't, then that only leaves death. Maybe I'm about to reach my final realization about becoming a rescue swimmer.

You wouldn't by chance live in that area that's been getting pounded by freezing rain now, have you?;):D[:/]B|

Tacked on 400 flutterkicks in sets of 40 last night, and 200 pushups in sets of 50 in addition to swimming 2000 yds. Ran my 3 miles this morning in 23:40, did two sets of 20 jumping lunges per leg, and 5 hill sprints at full throttle. Will update again tomorrow morning as to what I did tonight and tomorrow morning.
