Death thread manners

About the only thing I would think was inappropriate would be coming to a condolence thread and saying what an asshole someone was. We don't really tolerate that for live people either.

If there is ever a condolence thread for me, I'm ok with people talking about how much of an asshole I was. I mean gee, if the shoe fits....:D:D:D

BTW, I'm ok with it while I'm alive too.

Walt

And we'll all post our own bathtub turd pictures in your honor! :D:D:D If the mods will let us.

Is everything acceptable when our friends die?

Should we show more respect than "fuck, blue ones dude"

How about "The fuckin fucker's fucken fucked".

:DBest I ever heard before was "fuck the fuckin' fucker":D
btw - could have misread, but haven't seen 'dumb shit'. Could someone please call me that next time I do something stupid? ;)
A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!

That'd be a really shitty thread.:|
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

Look, if the combined mental brainpower of all the cells in an individual's brain can verbalize their grief no better than throwing out a gratuitous profanity, then let's assume they mean well and live with it and know that their mom would be so proud of them

and, let them come in off of the playground and return to junior high geography class with a pat on the head

...
Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

As long as you've been in the sport I'm sure you have had more than one occasion to deliver bad news to the friends and/or family of someone who has died. What did you hear when you did? Was it some well thought out eloquent speech that would make Shakespeare feel humbled? Pretty safe to say no.

Sure, we should all think before we communicate, but I think there are times when we need to overlook it when we don't. I don't know about you, but when I get some news that really makes my heart sink, my thoughts aren't organized. I'm not sure that I think much at all at a time like that. My feelings come from deep in my gut and I can sympathize with anyone who doesn't express themselves articulately at a time like that.

Yes, creating a post is inherently less spontaneous than an emotional outburst but if that's how some people choose to communicate at an awful time like that, I'm ok with it.

edited to add:
If that's how they communicate all the time, I'm ok with that too.

Condolences and Incidents.

Some people are idiots in the sky, but huge fun on the ground. Perhaps a few good memories and jumps.

I know some absolute jerks who are superb skydivers.
I've learned a lot from them.

If someone wants to point out that an idiot predictably drilled themselves into the ground, that can be discussed in the Incidents so that we may all learn from it. (No one will probably actually learn from it, but it is the best hope so far.)

A condolences thread is there to talk about loss.
The good things that will be missed.

If they die, I will tell a "f-in A" story about some stupidity that we were involved in.

In personal discussions, I have been brutally honest and stated that people were jerks. I have also expressed anger when people kill my friends.
