Zing 2 #6 December 9, 2007 Looks like selling all four in the ad will raise enough $$$ for about one and a half new Twin Otters. Something like $3.5 million apiece with nothing on the instrument panel for the new ones, last I heard. I was talking to a guy the other day who just bought another old Twin Otter. The prices in that ad are just a bit on the high side of what those airplanes are selling for right now.Zing Lurks

jimmytavino 16 #18 December 9, 2007 i'm alsways up for some silliness and holiday spirit, but... to get back on track... i'd guess the reason "for selling them" is because they will likely go for 2 to 3 times what the current owner paid for them,,,,,IF they were bought a while ago..... I'm happy for any aircraft owner who can reap such returns,,, though it REALLY hurts,, if the plane leaves the jumping industry..... Very pricey in any context and i trust Zing is well tuned in , to the current market... I see they are advertsied out of Ontario Canada... any explanations WHY??? Also No visible N #'s on any of them.... ??? are they in the course, of repaint???? I always thought that an aircraft's N # is designated at manufacturing and remains with it forever..... Right??? I also think the # needs to be visible on the plane if it is actively flying..... Can N #'s be changed??? or transferred??? In the case of a Mix and Match Rebuild...Does the N # stay with the airframe??? or the rudder.. or the wings, or the engines??? Is there a size requirement for the Number?? as it is marked on the fuselage??? or can it be "small"...How many places on a plane must that Number be made visible.... not a pilot. so not sure...I'm asking Santa Claus for One Million Two Hundred Fifty Thousand.........this year...... then I'll Make 'em a $$Cash$$ offer,,, they can't refuse..... ...It's on my wish list...... But I'm NOT holding my breath,, that I'll get it !!!answers please... jmy A 3914 4 stack
airtwardo 7 #19 December 9, 2007 No....you CAN change the N number. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
CSpenceFLY 1 #20 December 9, 2007 Many times when aircraft are for sale the pictures that are published are not on the actual plane. This is to keep people from tracking down a own themselves and trying to cut out a broker. The aircraft broker market is really fucked up and I place most brokers in the same catagory as bad used car salesmen and the cellular industry. I noticed that a couple of those planes are listed as out of country. Chances are if Steve is involved he has bought a couple of planes from out of the country and hopes to sell them before he gets them here.

jimmytavino 16 #24 December 9, 2007 Quote No....you CAN change the N number. no kidding??? hmmm... any more specifics jim??? change of ownership?? change of use???..Just for the hell of it??? how complicated ?? and how much paperwork?? Do Aircraft have Titles?????.. so much to learn..... (when one starts out, so stupid!!!!yes Amazon..... rate change has been bad for the U.S..... it would be interesting to trace the results of recent sales... where the planes are coming from,,, where they are going to. ( geographically ) so spence??? are these pics. just generic??? or are they doctored, to mask N Numbers??? The photos seem specific to each airplane.... either way.... I don't want ALL Three....... just One ! jmy
PhreeZone 20 #25 December 9, 2007 N numbers are just like vanity licence plates and can be requested to be changed if you file the paperwork and pay the fees. Once its assigned it stays with the airframe until you want to change it again. If the plane is totaled you can ask for a new N number or keep the old if you rebuild it. Lots of times fleets of planes will be similar. Most of American Airlines planes end in AA for example. Thats because they requested the block and assign it as they buy planes.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
