My mom just got 1 for the first time yesterday; she's on Verizon as well. I use T-Mobile and have gotten 1 or 2 in the past.

i started getting it too, with cingular.. err, att .. they had a messsege with them.. to stop these messeges, text yada yeada with 'stop' .. i did that, and ended up with $10 charge on my bill.

Yep, get them occasionally with Nextel and hate it too. They have a different alert sound associated with them, it's weird.

I use Sprint, and haven't gotten any spam in that fashion. So far, so good.
