ladydyver 0 #27 November 8, 2007 did another 45 min of cardio....that elliptical trainer is kicking my ass....but am down a total of 10 lbs in about 6 weeks and down 2 sizes. Also upper body lifting today. Tomorrow is cardio and lower body again. We leave for the boat tomorrow so won't be in the gym so will have to kick it up a notch on the cardio while we are gone. it was nice to get down to 145lbs.....haven't weighed that much since before my daughter was born and that was 10 yrs ago. If you don't hear from me it is becaue we don't have internet access for the next week. I have switched from soda to crystal light and it has really helped.DPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! MrFreefall383 0 #28 November 8, 2007 Did a short swim today, had to keep it a little short so I could drive my brother into the city this morning. Only found out at 5:10 this morning as I was about to walk out the door. Thanks dad. Anyway, I did some swim/pushup sets. 5 sets of 100m sprint followed by 30 pushups, so 500m and 150 pushups total, probably going to do a couple hundred more pushups later. Also did another 500m of kick development. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
tigra 0 #29 November 8, 2007 I switched to diet soda when I was 18 and lost 30 pounds my freshman year in college- a time when traditionally girls put on weight! That was a long time ago and the media is just now focusing on soda as one of the causes for the "Obesity Epidemic" in America as well as the increase in diabetes cases. Its bad stuff ......... I had my session with my trainer last night, mostly arms and abs. He wanted to weigh me and I told him not to bother - I know I've been "bad" lately and gained about 2 pounds. We hosted a birthday party for my step daughter over the weekend and I made and ate a ton of food, not to mention all the wine and stuff! Turkey and mole- yum! I'm not stressing about it though because I am still on the right track. But I know with the holiday season quickly approaching, I need to watch my day to day eating habits so I've got room for the splurges!

TONS of sugar and empty calories in pop...it's a great thing to ditch. Added something. I'm doing okay. I'm haven't binged over the last couple of days and have made decent food choices. And I went to yoga instead of skipping it. One day at at time. Back to the gym this weekend and I get all my test results next week from my new doc and hopefully we'll figure out a formal plan for Operation Get Krisanne Living Healthy Again. MrFreefall383 0 #31 November 8, 2007 Added another 250 pushups to my 150 from before, so 1000m of swimming and 400 pushups on the day so far, and that was done by noon. Still got more than half the day to do more, gotta think of something."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

ACMESkydiver 0 #34 November 8, 2007 -how 'bout rest and meditation? One thing I didn't mention on here before is that much of military schools is MENTAL toughness. 'Only the strongest survive' doesn't just mean muscles and stamina...but you're obviously taking care of that. Will and determination is what makes the slim percent graduate Ranger school, and I'm betting it will be the same with your training. The best way to do that (and I really am guessing that you've already got this down) is the unwaivering vision of yourself after you have accomplished the goal. The best that I can personally compare to would be basic and AIT, which were a far cry from special ops schools, but whenever it got tough, I'd look at 3 things I had hung in my wall locker: a picture of someone that already did it that I admired; the poem 'Don't Quit' (see below) that was hand-written to me in a letter by another friend that had already gone where I was headed, and a letter from my parents. I wasn't going to let any of those people down; the ones that were encouraging me, OR the ones that told me that I wouldn't make it!! I always visualized the congratulations and surprise from all of those people as I was graduating/moving on. Quote When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road your trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and its turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when your hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you must not quit! I read that poem every night, and I believed it.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
MrFreefall383 0 #35 November 9, 2007 That's excellent. Mind if I steal that? As for mental toughness, I've done plenty of growing up in the last few years. I've reached a point in my life where I know that I have to do what I have to do, and nothing can stop me if I want it bad enough. And quite frankly, I want it bad enough. I put up a poster in on my wall of a rescue swimmer jumping from an HH-65, and every morning before I leave for my swim or go down for an ab workout, and every night before I go to bed, I look at the poster and think, "Are you serious enough, do you want it enough?" And the answer is always, "You bet your ass." And I always beat my old records everytime I swim, every workout I do, so progress is only in a forward direction."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
MrFreefall383 0 #36 November 9, 2007 Another fun little workout this morning. Had to reserve some for my backpacking trip this weekend, so couldn't do my best numbers, but managed 300 situps in sets of 50 with a first set of 100 in 1 min 50 seconds. Then I did 150 reverse crunches, 150 side crunches per side, and 200 arm/leg lifts."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

wildcard451 0 #42 November 15, 2007 Well, after spending most of my day off from this last hellish month I have been on, and then polishing off the remainder of a quart of ice cream....I said this is fucking enough. Gonna set up a daily picture, and get all my weight and everything lined up, as well as a scale for the house here so I can keep track. 50 minutes on the bike today was all the start I had time for, but we'll see what wingloading I have by the end of this. I'm with you on this one! I put on a dress I bought about 6 years ago - and guess what? Not only does it still fit - I look freakin better in it NOW then I did back then. More curves and lots more muscle... yay!

I'll get back tomorrow and see just how my shoulder is going to tolerate on weights again. Could be interesting as I'm still pretty sure that I have a rotator cuff injury. Oh well, let the rehab begin at the same time.
