skyejumper 0 #1 November 30, 2007 No one will ever be quite as good as the original. Evel Knievel has passed away. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22045287/ It's scary that he caught Hep C from a blood transfusion after an accident. I'm sure blood banks are more careful nowadays, but ya never know.

As soon as I posted, I saw NickDG had beaten me by a few seconds, so I deleted mine."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. ACMESkydiver 0 #6 November 30, 2007 I went to grade school with his neice, Carry Knievel. She was a sweet girl. I haven't heard from her in over 20 years; hope she's ok. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

NickDG 23 #16 November 30, 2007 >>Suffered from premature activation on THAT one!I saw a video once where Evel goes off on his rigger guy for messing up. But I think the parachute was deployed via a Dead Man's switch. That made sense in case Evel was knocked out at some point. All he had to do was let go of the lever or switch, or whatever it was, and the deployment would commence. I think either his hand slipped, or the launch surprised him, and he let go. Not much of a matter though, he had the cobs to climb into that thing and let them fire it . . . NickD
Muenkel 0 #17 December 1, 2007 I have a theory as to why he failed at the Snake River Canyon. He was masturbating. _________________________________________ Chris

skyejumper 0 #20 December 1, 2007 oops... sorry.. didn't see the other 57 threads. Maybe there should be a "one thread per time zone rule" or something. The east-coasters have an advantage. Wait a sec... maybe it's the west coast peeps who have the advantage.

bodypilot90 0 #22 December 1, 2007 Quote he caught Hep C from a blood transfusion after an accident. I'm sure blood banks are more careful nowadays Yes they are, but it still does happen. They do test for it. The fastest growing group of people getting Hep c today is from tatoos and piercings. This is a horrible thing to deal with, has no side effects other than being tired until the liver is almost gone. If you have tats or piercings please get tested. DFWAJG 4 #23 December 1, 2007 I loved Evil Knievel! My brothers had his action figure toy complete with jumping motorcycle. I didn't have a Ken doll, so I used Evil as my Barbie's boyfriend.
cocheese 0 #24 December 1, 2007 It's cool to jump the bridge and see his mounded launch site as we throw the pilot chute.
GumbyGirl 0 #25 December 1, 2007 My brother had an Evel Knievel action figure, but the motorcycle kept tipping over. If you didn't get it moving fast enough (I think you had to pull it backwards a few times, then release it) it just went kerplop. I liked the cool outfit, though.
