livendive 8 #1 December 4, 2007 Wow, we've got our very own medical problem being discussed in the New England Journal of Medicine! Anyone want to take charge of issuing SRS (Skydiving-Related Syringomyelia) numbers? Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" skybeergodd 0 #2 December 4, 2007 Basically they are claiming that repetitive deceleration injury can cause cysts to form within the spinal cord and if not treated can ultimately lead to permanent nerve damage.....All i can say is I'm damn glad I have my little Sabre2 now. Hopefully those sweet opening will prevent me from getting a SRS #.

Would be nice to see more MRIs on long term jumpers to see the effects and if this occurs frequently. Doc says he is not interested in doing the study however. Give muttley squeezes for us......we are back at the end of the week.DPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! ltdiver 3 #9 December 5, 2007 Thanks for the education! We're seeing a patient right now who has paraplegia from a spinal cyst. Unknown etiology. Although they're not a skydiver, I'm now more aware of what may have caused their condition. (they presented initially with complete quadriplegia, which finalized in paraplegia by the end of their acute stay). Interesting article. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Lindsey 0 #10 December 5, 2007 That's interesting. I'm getting nerve conduction studies on upper and lower extremities next tuesday before an MRI. We'll see what shows up.-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
