What's the secret to snowboarding?

Recommended Posts

I was looking for a winter hobby up here in New England, and I figured why not try snowboarding? So as I usually do I put the cart before the horse and went out and got me a new board, bindings, and boots. Then last Saturday I took a loooong 4 hour ride to Maine, only to spend the day falling on my ass. It went something like this. I went down hill, gained speed...went "aack" tried to slow down then bang on my ass. Oh, and yes I did a lesson. Didn't help. I ended up taking the board off towards the end of the day and walked down the slope (easy slope too).

What the Hollish one said.

Plus, take some lessons. They're usually damn cheap, and you might learn a thing or two that'll help make that learning curve a little less steep.

Don't break your arm snowboarding the day you get a cast removed from breaking your arm snowboarding. :$

Oh yeah one thing I forgot -- PLFs work just as well in snowboarding as they do in skydiving!

When the doctor was taking off the cast in the morning he told me I should not snowboard the rest of the season. When the doctor was putting on the cast in the afternoon he told me I would not snowboard the rest of the season. :P

I competed for years in big air, boarder-x, so I went plenty big.....That is why I have so many problems with back, neck, and knees now....

Now it is about just getting out there for a few runs at a time and beer combo with tylenol /advil does that for me....

I went to a snowboarding camp and learned backflips and variations (I already was doing frontflips and variations) from a professional. Later, I learned about all the injuries the professional had dealt with ... I stopped doing the big air and big tricks and started doing the powder after that.

saw it in half, put a binding on each half, and face forward down the slope....or maybe just put skis on instead ><

that's my secret to snowboarding.

Actually, the best things are those little blade skis. i can do snowboard tricks but not have to deal with that "bound up and can't move" feeling that a snowboard gives me.

Should see me in the terrain park with those things! so fun!

Take a shot of bourbon and smoke a phatty right before getting on the board. It makes you mroe relexed, and you perform better, thus falling less. Trust me...it works.
