I agree. They seem to be perfect for that one gift you always wanted and thought about but never actually wanted to spend your own money on. It's a great way of doing away with procrastination.

Ahh... Taking something universally useful like cash and limiting it and adding an expiration date too. :S

So you think it is more appropriate just to give cash? I always thought that was considered even more thoughtless than a gift certificate.

Just make sure they can actually use it somewhere close to where they live. Nothing sucks more then having to travel 6 or 8 hrs to use a certificate that someone gave you.

Or perhaps you should simply just be thankful that someone thought enough of you to give you said gift. Ever think about that?

The term ungrateful sure comes to mind right about now.

I like giving gift cards. I try to give it for something the receiver is interested in. Or to something they would like but not normally buy for them self. But I never use a middleman/broker that charges a whole bunch of extra fees or has expiration dates. Go right to the retailer.

Or even worse when you attempt to redeem the certificate, but you are told that the DZ doesnt except the certificate from a specific "vendor". The term for that "vendor" is unethical business. Gift certificates are a great idea, just careful where you buy them.

Ungrateful or someone who's an idiot when spending money? Probably the same person who buys Popeil's products from infomercials on TV.

Personally I try to give thoughtful gifts that are something the person can actually use and is a good value for my money spent. Sometimes that is a gift certificate, but its always for a store that is local for the recipients, not for a store that is hours and hours away that also tacks on all sorts of fees and known nationally for lying to its customers.

Agreed. I have a shelf full of tack Christmas gifts we have received. I'm afraid to toss them for fear someone asks (like "Hey! Where's that beautiful wicker wine bottle holder I have you 6 years ago?")

Well where did our new friend go? Start a thread, get insulting, and then just go away. That's fucking rude.

I'm right here. I did not insult anyone. I voiced my opinion in response to one of your comments.

My posts have been very civil.

Civil.....many time when people attmept to redeem your gift certificates, and learn they cant, the last thing they feel is civil. If you were sent to dz.com as PR maintenance on behalf of skywetookyourmoneyandranride, I am gonna tell you right now its now working. You should go somewhere else.

They're both pretty thoughtless. At least with cash you acknowledge you have no idea what they want. :|
