whether to bring my rig or not?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be traveling to Orlando Fl on Feb 7th to the 12th, for my daughter's cheer competiton. I'm wanting to travel to the nearest DZ to jump and I'm wondering how hard it is going to be to travel with my rig. I'm also wondering how far the nearest DZ really is in travel time. If anyone can help me with these issues I'd really appreciate it, I'm trying to plan ahead so I have everything ready in advance. Can't wait! I hope the weather is good that week, you never do know!B|

How about spending the time focusing on your daughter and her cheer competition? Any chance you think she would appreciate that?

And before you come back and say there is plenty of time to do both, think it through. Dont be selfish. You are going there for your daughter, be there for your daughter.

wow..
actually, we are not even allowed to visit with them at all, we are only allowed to watch them compete...
We will be able to attend the competition and one dinner with them... So yea, really, there will be time for both since I am going for 5 nights and 6 days and will only be spending 1 or 2 days with her. I plan on going to a DZ one day and then to the wind tunnel another day, unless the DZ is really close and the weather is exceptional.. Also, I watch my daughter cheer and totally support her and love to watch her so if I could be with her more believe me I would. Thanks for your concern though..

Just take your Cypress X-Ray card with you in your carry on, regardless of if you check your rig or not. I've never been asked for it, but always have it. :)
As for closest DZ travel time, I'll leave that to the locals to answer. :)

Z-Hills is about 1 hour away DeLand is maybe a 1/2 hour Titusville is about 1 hour Lake Wales about the same in other words yes bring your rig all the DZ's should be busy that time of year
You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!

Titusville requires a C license.
Deland is about 40 minutes away
Sebastian is about 1 hr 15 minutes away

Deland, Z-Hills, and Sebastian will be your best bet. If you're going on a weekday, call ahead and make sure they're jumping (shouldn't be a problem, though).

Personally I'd recommend Sebastian...but of course I'm not biased or anything :P

If you're from Up north
and you have a chance to be In Florida
any time...
and especially in Feb....
then

the rules ARE.....

bring your rig!!!!!:)
you can also considering shipping your rig to a place where you will visit FIRST...B|
call ahead to see if that's ok and make arrangements,,plan ahead for cheaper rates, and insure it. i've found Fed Ex and UPS to be pretty reliable.. but insure it!!!!

That might beat having to drag your gear, along with your luggage, through airports...:oB|;):)
If you get a car.. carrying your gear from place to place is no problem...Then you could always ship it back to yourself, before you fly home...

Places are easy to find.
Do your 'between Dz drives" after sunset, and drive at night to reach the next dz.. so that you are THERE,,, first thing in the morning..!!!

stay all Day !!!! ( if you can )

BUT share in the cheerleading event as much as is required, so that your daughter will enjoy
the vacation as well.....
WOW two of my favorite things....(I have a list of about 100 )B|;):)skydiving
and
cheerleaders
