Connection between comedians and intelligence??

If you're a standard comedian, is it any indicaction of intelligence?
I've met several comedians and they all seem very intelligent if not just very perceptive of the world around them.

There is likely a positive correlation between intelligence and success in show business, including comedy.

I would say that it takes a certain amount of ambition and perseverance to become famous. Intelligence, communication skills, drive, follow-through.

Repeated shameless self-promotion and the ability to brush off rejection.

There are a lot of intelligent comedians that you never heard of because they gave up. Probably a few that became writers because they lack the rapid-fire response, but have great material.
