Hi Esq,
"Cat" in farsi is "Gorbe" as in (gor-bay). As for that other character, no, Iranians don't eat cat or dog for that matter. I was in Isfahan back in 76' working for Grumman on their F-14 program. Nice place to visit then but I wouldn't care to be there now!!!!!!!!!

Not sure in Farsi, but the Dari word for cat is peshak (Dari and Farsi are very close languages, Farsi is spoken in Iran and Dari in Afghanistan).
