Remster 30 #29 October 22, 2007 Well, I tried the Tucson Shootout this weekend... (well, the Old Man's shootout... I dont even want to pretend I can hang with actual pros...)http://www.saguarovelo.org/shootout101.html ; elevation: http://www.gstracing.com/route.php The site calls it the senior shootout, but BS! lol.. I'd say the average age was about late 30s. I hung for the 1st 25 miles, then got dropped like yesterday's laundry... Going 25 miles an hour on a 3% grade was a_bit_challenging lol. Our little slow 3some managed to almost get back to the pack but we faded again. In the end, the lead from the pro's shootout (who left 15 minutes later) caught up with us and we drafted back to town with them. 60 miles at 20.1 mph average. Not bad I say! simplyputsi 0 #33 October 22, 2007 http://sports.yahoo.com/sc/news?slug=ap-dopingsummit&prov=ap&type=lgns I'm disspointed remi. Why can't you hang 25mph on 3% upgrade. Seriously now. Sounds like you had fun, and your mph and time look pretty good. I might try to do bike races next year instead of triathlons. My legs hate me for running.Skymama's #2 stalker -

Remster 30 #35 November 5, 2007 Weekend update: I did the Old Man shootout again, and this time I was ahead of the middle pack by the time the rough climbs were over. Slowed down, they caught up, and rode in with them (its nice to have a fast paceline going mid to 30s!). So that was 60 on Saturday, and improved my average to 20.5 mph And today, did my 1st century with a 19 mph average. I knew I'd struggle with it after doing a fast 60 yesterday. It wasnt a mass start, so I ended up doing the first 40 miles by myself (catching a wheel once in awhile); and then just before a long, fast downhill, I was cought by a group of 8 or so lead by a tandem. SWEET! I think we held 37 to 40 mph for a good 10 miles.Remster
