Andy9o8 2 #36 October 30, 2007 We understand. I didn't find it all that hard to come to terms with the enhanced risk of my own death from skydiving, as that part was fairly obvious when I started. What I did find harder to come to terms with, probably because it simply hadn't occurred to me when I first started, is that since that enhanced risk applies to all skydivers, I'd start knowing a lot more people who were dying young than I would if I wasn't in the sport. cocheese 0 #37 October 30, 2007 We know a lot of people because of skydiving. Whuffos don't have this many friends in general. The same number of people die per year on snow mobiles in my state as skydivers do in the whole country.

I was also realizing recently that of the (too many) memorial services I've attended of people I know in this sport ... only one died in a skydiving accident. micduran 0 #44 October 31, 2007 Back on topic. It sucks how often we have to say goodbye to our friends; regardless if they are skydiver or whuffo friends. We all take risks and think we are as careful as we can be. Let's just always remember to give and take hugs whenever we can. Don't miss an opportunity to let someone know you love, care, appreciate, worship, are fond of, know how you feel.Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours. upndownshop 0 #46 October 31, 2007 Quote So who's fucking next? Only two years? I hear ya Chris. Try the last 5 or better yet 40. But like I have said in other posts, I would rather go thru the pain of losing someone than to have never have met them at all. So I expect to have plenty of tears left for all. After Egon, I learned alot, then my trip to Jamaica added to what I learned. i try to judge people less and have learned to value the time I have with the people around me, friends or not. Well I have always said I wanted to pass the same day I arrived, and for the second year in a row I did not get to do my first base jump(not that it would kill me) on my Bday so I am still here( did do my first wingsuit jump om my 39th, that scared the heck out of me). I must say I was nervous with this being the 40th and the old saying careful what you wish for.... Not that I wish to go on my bday, just always thought it different. I know its weird but hey I cant even spell my name right Embrace the memories, love em all, and enjoy the time we have with each other, especially us older ones eh?
