Me thinks You all have been trolled and took the bait.

We've all seen these type of folks on this websight before and we will see them again.

First time shame on them second time shame on us.

No, I think he's real. He left his real name and State behind. I think he just answerd the question I posed to him and that is sadly to be an ass.

if any of you guys are taking this seriously i feel real sorry for you, have a nice day boys and girls.:D

Some, if not most who post here do take this seriously. Many of whom post here are currently or formally in the equipment industry and have seen more than their fair share of "ugly shit" and feel compelled to speak up about it. When you have to "remove" the eqipment of a dead person that you were talking to just minutes before, well that just puts you ill at ease and changes your whole perception of life and death.

It's not some faceless/nameless individual you are working on, but someone you actually knew, it changes you in ways that you can't imagine (and I sincerely hope you never have to) and gives you another perspective on what it is you are currently doing in your skydiving career. Suddenly all of the glib/ Im so fucken cool remarks seem totaly empty and you find yourself second guessing your whole attitude about everything.

Call us primma donnas or worry warts or doom sayers, it dosen't matter. We've (collectivly) seen too much bad shit happen over the years that we feel a compelling need to point it out to people like you. When you (if you're around long enough) actually find yourself in this position you will come to the realization that this can easily be you (or one of your closest friends) and feel sick to your stomach because you will have to deal with it.

It's not pretty or cool it just sometimes happens and it's not fun, but it's REAL and you have to cope with it And hopefully learn from it. COMPRENDO?

Mick.

Sounds like fun. I have also been a rider of such a device. We used a much longer rope, I felt a little safer with the extra height.Similar set up with vehicle and PC. Urban legend: Parasail is rigged with trash can for suspended weight and a place for the single parachute system jumper to sit. Parasail reaches height of approx 300ft. Jumper falls off trash can, deploys parachute ,lands safely on the beach. Was'nt me.

Parascending or Parasailing is a fun activity and has even turned into a sport to some degree but only if done safely (equipment, conditions, training, judgement). Using a Canopy specifically designed for this is the better choice.

Modifying a Round Parachute for Parasailing is another choice but increases the risk significantly. But if the modifications area done intelligently by qualified people then those risks can be managed or reduced.

Modifying or using a RAM Air canopy for this is even more dangerous and is not recommended.

I have personally been involved in parascending using both a PC and a Parafoil. The PC we simply kited on a fixed line anchored to a fixed object in strong but steady winds and we never went very high. The Parafoil we towed behind a truck and we were lucky we lived. A year later someone else tried to follow our example with different gear and someone nearly died.

It's tempting to want to put that old gear to some other use. Tie a weight to it and fly it as a kit but stay firm on the ground is my opinion.:S

I have video of Patrick De Gayardon being towed behind a speed boat whilst flying what looks like a BT canopy. It is mid 90's footage so probably about 140sq ft canopy. He launches whilst on the moving boat and is slowly raised higher and higher. He eventually cuts away the tether and flies the canopy down.
One day I will upload it to skydivingmovies but since its on VHS I need to convert it and find a VCR etc..

To the OP: buy a Parasail.
To the guy with the "big balls": It does not matter how high you are, the canopy can hook you into the ground or water at enough speed to mess you up bad.
