Dogs on the drop zone?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what everyone's view on dogs and drop zones are. I personally cannot imagine a DZ without dogs about, but I understand it is not practical or safe at some DZ's.

Also, for future reference, where are the best dog friendly DZ's in the US? We may want to travel someday. :)

Ultimately, of course, it's up to the DZ management, but I personally have no trouble with dogs that are properly supervised by their owners (which would generally mean a leash). It's when they're running amok in the landing area and getting into gear that I have a real issue. I don't care how cute your pooch is if it's fucking with my gear.

Hey Lee...remember when Sadie and AJ (dog in avatar) wrapped up in a tight 69 and licked themselves into a coma last year? :D:D

Maybe I'm prejudice due to the fact whodamiss is my wife, but the Farm IS the ultimate dog dropzone! There have only been a few close calls...(Brandie) viewable on skydivingmovies.com

Somebody make this a clicky for me, I'm not sure how.

My dropzone started with just 1 dog and my 2 older (indoor) cats. Now we have 3 coon hounds, a small terrior, a very sweet senior-citizen doberman, and a third 5 lb cat who has all the dogs scared of her and now rules the dz.

Don't forget the pit mix that Alan took home with him. As for the cat... I guess I haven't been out there since she moved in. :S

If I had my druthers, I'd say No Dogs...mostly because the owners don't control them and don't pick up after them. Having to dodge dogshit on the DZ sucks. Having animals crawling all over your gear sucks. Animals marking their territory on your gear sucks.

Having a swoop target doesn't suck.
:D:D

My reality and yours are quite different.

That is so funny because my dog feels the same about humans, she is tired of you puking where she sleeps, stepping on more lines with two feet than she does with four and she would rather you mark the gear instead of fucking stealing it!:P

Yeah... what is up with all those dogs running around in the hangar?? I say get a perimeter alarm and make all the dogs who are brought to the DZ wear those special collars so if they try to come in the hanger... (BZZZT) yelp! :P

Billy, the next time you visit the farm...the large German Shepard will be well trained to chew your face off upon command.:ph34r:

That has been done. Come check my face out when I do show up. Got a really nasty scar when I was a kid, no thanks to a mean German Shepherd that I did nothing to. :|

I can tolerate some dogs and pet them if they come to me nice and want me to pet them, otherwise I prefer they stay out of my way.

That said, I'd rather the dogs stay out while people have gear on the floor. When everything's picked up and put away, no problem. :)

That sounds completely reasonable...
