DroptheMan04 0 #1 June 9, 2006 I know I'm still newbie for while. What does slider help on canopy? less speed or what?
kenneth21441 0 #2 June 9, 2006 Controls opening of the canopy. Without it you wished it was there. Im sure there are other data on this in this forum. Also check with your instructor or rigger for more data.Kenneth Potter FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Tactical Delivery Instructor (Jeddah, KSA) FFL Gunsmith
mjosparky 4 #3 June 9, 2006 A slider is used to "reef" the opening of the canopy. During deployment the slider catches air and slows down the initial opening loads. As was posted earlier, without some form of reefing a ram air deployment at terminal would really f#@# up your day.My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
darkwing 5 #4 June 9, 2006 The slider slows the canopy opening down. If the slider wasn't there you would pretty much die due to hard/fast opening of the canopy. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
